Ibis Budget Rennes Route de Lorient in Rennes

Stayed part of the week of October 12-18, 2025. My wife and I were visiting the area and used this hotel as "home base" for driving trips around the area. We were pleasantly surprised by this budget option which, to be honest, we picked because we had seen a few travel YouTubers stay at other properties in the Ibis chain and wanted cheap and dependable. We will probably use this hotel brand in future, including this location if we're back in the area.

Pros: inexpensive and clean. Guest floor were quiet at night. Staff were awesome! Super friendly and helpful and very indulgent of my attempts to use my limited French. Seriously, the folks working the desk were the great asset of this property. Our package included breakfast each day which was typical "continental" buffet style options but good quality and a solid start to the day. Close enough to city center to get there quickly if you have a car, but far enough out to get out into the country in the morning without having to fight traffic. There were restaurant and limited shopping options in walking distance.

Neutral: Room was small (like a college dorm room) but had the important bits (bed, bathroom, TV, outlets) and we deliberately chose this location as a place to sleep when not out doing stuff rather than looking for the hotel itself to be the destination. Rooms had AC though you couldn't change it from 19C and we would have liked to sleep a little cooler. Bed was firm and basic.

Cons: Only real negative was that there's a bakery next door so we woke up each morning smelling baked goods which got us up a bit early and hungry.

Nothing more, everything was nice. Maybe a bigger shower but otherwise nothing else.

Usual standard for a budget hotel - car park nice and spacious plus locked at night.

This is an ideal place for people traveling towards the west coast of France. Approx 2hrs from roscoff. Good cheap clean hotel. Breakfast is good. Secure carpark with security gates. Receptionist was a very friendly guy at midnight. Will be hopefully using this a lot more.

Ideal for an overnight stay. Out of town centre but nice restaurants within walking distance.

EDIT: we returned in 2025. Still good value but there was a cockroach in my 1st room which was strange, as it was so clean otherwise. They moved me and 2nd room was fine. Just a bit loud at times due to bad soundproofing and loud college kids.

We had a good stay. The hotel is nice and modern, and the rooms were clean. I slept well as there is an electric shutter and large curtain to block out all the light. Staff are friendly too. We’d come back again!

Very clean hotel,small rooms but comfortable,staff very professional and welcoming,one of the best stays ever in a budget hotel and we use different ones alot.This is first time ever we found BBC1 on TV,didn't find any restaurants as surrounding area like a building site,so we ended up in Burger King,next morning on reception desk we saw details of restaurants that would have given us discount,shame we were not aware of this ,but next time!

I was very happy to discover a modern and accommodating hotel like IBIS Budget. The receptionist was very nice, the location fitted perfectly with my journey, and it's relatively close to Rue Marbeuf (10 min walking).

Very clean, probably a new hotel, supermarket nearby, 5 minutes drive. The parking lot is big, but by evening it is all filled up.
