Mercure Ajaccio Centre in Ajaccio

I would never recommend Mercure Hotel in Ajaccio. Our stay was an absolute disaster.

First of all, the hotel charged us €160 under the excuse of a deposit, and no one ever explained where this money went. This feels like a scam.

Second, the room was filthy. All the dishes were dirty, the water bottle was empty, and the kettle had old water inside, as if it had never been washed. Totally unacceptable for a 4-star hotel.

On top of that, the staff was shockingly rude and unprofessional. When we complained about the dirty room, the receptionist (a young woman) told us: “What did you expect? This is France! Be thankful we even reserved a room for you!” Later, when we were trying to resolve an issue at the front desk, a male employee dismissed us with: “Oh, step aside, I have a check-in, we’ll deal with it later.” This is absolutely insulting and disrespectful.

The pool situation was another disaster. While our children were swimming, a group of adults started yelling and disturbing everyone. Instead of stopping the noisy adults, the staff kicked our children out of the pool. Later, the situation with the adults became even louder and more chaotic than the children’s swimming ever was. The management completely failed to handle it.

This hotel is a disgrace to the Mercure brand. It’s overpriced, dirty, and run by rude staff who clearly don’t care about their guests.

Avoid this place at all costs.
