Logis Hôtel la Brèche - Restaurant Berthelot in Amboise

Excellent hotel with off street parking. Friendly and helpful staff if French is not your first language. The room was spacious and comfortable breakfast had a wide choice to suit most people. But the dinner in the hotel was excellent!!! It was so good that we have booked to stay there for our return to the UK

We had the six-course tasting menu and found the value for money to be excellent. At first, the portions looked small and we thought it might not be enough, but we ended up feeling completely satisfied and couldn’t even make it to dessert. The wine was extraordinary, and the welcome was absolutely wonderful. We were treated like royalty from start to finish. It truly felt like a fine dining experience that made my husband’s birthday even more special and memorable.
The only very small detail was the silence in the dining room, as there was no background music. A soft, light background playlist — perhaps classical or gentle music — could make the atmosphere even warmer and help break the silence a little. Aside from that, everything was very enjoyable.
A delightful and refined gastronomic experience with outstanding service, excellent value for money, and a truly memorable atmosphere for a special occasion.

Great location just a couple blocks from the train station, and a few blocks from a grocery store. The Amboise city center is a 20-minute walk. The area is quiet at night. One caveat is that there is no elevator, and all the rooms are up one or two flights of steep stairs. So this is not a place for anyone who cannot haul their stuff up one or two flights. It wasn’t a problem for this middle-aged dude but would be an issue for some. The rooms and beds are quite comfortable. The staff were very nice, and could speak enough English that I could get by. Breakfast is great, with good gluten-free bread and other options (be sure to tell them ahead of time). Dinners are expensive but top-notch, and they can accommodate gluten-free needs. Overall, a great place. I would stay here again.

I echo all of the positive comments written here. The Hôtel la Brèche was the perfect place for my wife and I to stay while in Amboise for several nights. From check-in to checkout, everything was perfect, from staff to the condition of the property. We were assigned room 16 and were not disappointed. It was quite large by French standards and it came just at the right time in our three week driving trip around the country. The mini-suite had a living area and large, walk-in shower with plenty of pressure and hot water. Since we arrived in October, we didn't need the A/C, but the heat worked very well. For those of you that like a dark room, this is the place for you. The windows and front door have shutters that can be closed making for a blacked out room free from any outside light. As others have mentioned, it is a little walk into town and took us between 15 and 20 minutes each time, but it was easy and for the most part, scenic when crossing the bridge. My only disappointment, if you can call it that, is that the restaurant doesn't offer a small continental breakfast. If you want to eat on the property you will need to spend 25 Euros for the buffet, which looked fabulous. But all is not lost. there is a really good patisserie down the street that has an outstanding selection of croissants and quiches, but it's takeout only. My wife and I would pick up a few things and bring it back to the room and we were in heaven. There is free onsite parking, although we saw lots of on-street parking spots available. The next time we are in Amboise, we would not hesitate checking into this fine establishment again.

We loved the ambience and setting of Hotel de la Breche, both dinner and breakfast were delicious. We were happy to spend the evening in the hotel garden, and appreciated the very quiet A/C as it was 30 deg+ during our stay!

Due to a communication problem the restaurant only had three hours notice that my wife was vegetarian. Nevertheless they served three courses of what she described as the best meal she has ever had in her life. The setting in the garden was ridiculously glorious and the three course menu was one of those which is really five courses for the price of three, with superb ingredients and imaginative presentation. And the service from Madame was warm and humorous. And the hotel is pretty good too

La Breche We were travelers from the U.S. First time to stay in this hotel. We chose it thru a Google search. Its reality matched the photos, which is always nice. The junior suite was spacious and comfortable. Ours had an extra single bed in it, along with a sofa and a desk and an entry settee. The bathroom had the rounded enclosure/stand-alone shower type with an open/shut door. Not as luxurious as a tiled shower, but we were thankful to have a stand-alone shower and not a tub! Although there was no vanity space, there was a stand-alone four layer shelf, so that was helpful for placing your toiletries. The amenities of individual lotion and vanity kit/shaving kit/shower cap was very nice to have, and something neither of our two previous hotels on our trip had. I LOVED finding that they provided these things...such a nice touch. The only negative thing I can say about the bathroom was that they (along with the other two hotels we stayed in) provided communal shampoo in the shower, and the product was the one that combines shampoo and body wash. I personally do not like to use body wash for my hair, preferring there be two separate products. I would ideally prefer individual shampoo and body wash or soap. The bed and linens were comfortable. The pillows were comfortable. The only negative I would say about the room itself was the decor...it was like something from the era of the U.S. 60s...not at all French charming as one would hope in a French hotel. It felt dated and dark. If they changed that, this room would be top-notch! The reception was perfectly hospitable! Very nice and they spoke English. Although this hotel is not in Amboise proper, we could have walked to the downtown portion if we'd chosen to, crossing over two bridges. The hotel's secure and free parking was very nice to have!! We didn't utilize the gardens, but they made for a lovely setting. We also did not have their breakfast. (We did, however, enjoy a patisserie on their same street, which was the best patisserie of our week in France! Maison Lamotte Artisan Boulanger Patissier. They had chocolate almond croissants, which was the first time we've ever had a chocolate one, and it was delicious! Everything we had from there was delicious!) We would stay here again!

The food was great, the service prompt and the check acceptable.

It's on the edge of fine dining I'd say, would suggest leaving the kids at home honestly.

Our bike tour company, Discovery France, booked us two nights here while we biked around château in the valley. The room was comfortable, well appointed, and the house, friendly and helpful. The gardens on the grounds are lovely, and the parking secure. The breakfast was splendid with a wonderful variety. The highlight was a dinner we had here - a spectacular eight courses of the chef’s inspirations (it was even better than a similar dinner we had in Blois at Assa, a Michelin rated, Gault Millau (3 hats) restaurant). (Tip: as it is an older building, the stairs are a bit steep so you may want to ask for a room on floor one if this is a concern)
