This hotel may have been a 4-stars establishment back in the 90s, as the rooms are furnished according to those outdated standards. The amenities—especially for what claims to be a 4-stars hotel—are seriously lacking. The rooms appear far more worn and dated than in the pictures, and in reality, the hotel should be classified as a 3 stars at best.
Unfortunately, the lounge is also extremely outdated. A complete renovation is necessary to maintain a genuine 4-star classification.
The location is indeed good, and the room was reasonably clean (though that should be a given).
I do not recommend Unger as a 4 starts hotel.

Bad internet with cellular data, paper thin walls and no complimentary WI-FI! They charge 10€ for Wi-Fi per day which is ridiculus and outdated! People want to make online check-in and check flights or trains and Wi-Fi today is a basic amenity! That needs to be improved!

I stayed at this so-called 4-star hotel, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to its rating at all. The room was in poor condition — the furniture was extremely old and worn out, and there was visible mold in several areas, including the bathroom. The place felt unclean and poorly maintained, far from what you’d expect from a 4-star establishment.
The overall atmosphere was outdated and neglected. Even though the staff were polite, that couldn’t make up for the uncomfortable and unhealthy environment. I honestly think this hotel needs a full renovation and a deep cleaning before charging guests the prices it does.
Would not recommend staying here until they address these issues.

Hotel is ok, need some improvements. However, 5 stars for Otto, the late-night-receptionist-guy, who opened the hotel bar for us and served a lot of good drinks!

I had a misunderstanding, but the people at the reception were very kind about it, which I was pleasantly surprised by and really appreciated, as I have been yelled at for more minor things several times in Germany. Thank you! The room was comfortable enough and the breakfast was great.

The reception staff was helpful and friendly, despite the late hour. Room 607 was clean, but pretty bare. Positive: windows could be open for some fresh air.
Very negative: paper-thin walls. Absolutely no noise insulation. Could hear the guy next door on his phone until midnight. So annoying. Definitely not a 4 stars hotel.
PS: Stayed there as a stranded traveler due to a train cancellation. DB has a deal with them. Not recommended.

You can do better. Everything from the bed to the pillow to the bathroom to the AC is done as cheaply as possible, and it shows. The provided pillow and mattress is so uncomfortable that they offer more options at the front desk; of course, these are often unavailable since they have so few. The bathrooms have 2-in-1 shampoo/soap and that's all, and they feel like a public toilet. It was upwards of 18°C during the day (Mid April) but the AC was not turned on for the building and you can't even run the fan in the room; as a result, the rooms are sweltering hot at night. You can keep the windows open to cool it off- but it is excessively loud outside due to the hotel's location, with drag racing and shouting outside the windows at 1-2 in the morning even on weekdays. There are enough hotels around Stuttgart HBF that you shouldn't have to compromise on EVERY aspect of your stay- look somewhere else.

Good spacious room. S-Bahn is nearby and Hauptbahnhof is only a few minutes away.

We loved this place!
TL;DR: Great location, clean rooms, comfy beds, great staff, excellent breakfast. Definitely recommended.
On to the details:
The location is unbeatable. It's so close to the central train station, drug stores, loads of restaurants and bakeries, a grocery store... it's perfect.
The staff is exceptionally helpful and thoughtful.
Breakfast (included) was perfect. The buffet has an excellent selection with table service for coffee or tea, and it's a very nice dining room.
The adjacent lounge area is also very comfortable with some really cool stained glass and decor items.
The building is great. I've read some reviews complaining about an "outdated" interior; personally I disagree. Decor is a matter of opinion, and I found it to be understated and perfectly fine.
Our room was very clean and comfortable, and a generous size for the price, so we didn't feel cramped.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable.
The bathroom was fantastic. The heated towel rack was a great bonus and the towels were that perfect fluffy towel type that only hotels seem to be able to get. Excellent quality on all the fittings and the tile work.
In fact, everything in the place was in excellent condition. One may not realize how important that is until you don't have it.
Some reviews complain about the lack of a pool. I don't give a fig that there's no pool. I'm there to see the sights, not a swimming pool.
Minor requests / critiques:
An upgrade of the curtains to true blackout curtains. The super cool motorized blinds and the drapery did an excellent job of keeping the room quite dark, but it's nice to have full blackout when jet lagged.
Some sort of in-room fan would be nice. Some reviewers complained about the HVAC system; I thought this wasn't warranted because our room was VERY comfortable the whole time even with the late August high temps being around 92F (32C). However, some people prefer noticeable air movement / circulation. Just a suggestion, and definitely not a deal breaker IMHO.
Would we stay here again?
Absolutely!

The hotel is in an excellent location, five minutes' walk from the train station. The hotel room is large and clean. The breakfast is very rich and very cost-effective. This business trip happened to coincide with Christmas Eve, and the hotel also gave every guest a Christmas gift package for free!
