Description

Hotel Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden is a historic 5-star property established in 1813 and renovated in 2003. It offers a range of room types from Superior Single rooms to Royal Double Suites, with options that include courtyard views. Guests have access to numerous amenities such as a heated pool filled by a natural hot spring, a solarium, sauna, fitness center, and a casino. The hotel features a Michelin-starred restaurant and a lively bar, plus services including express check-in, laundry, currency exchange, and free parking. While the hotel is praised for its spacious rooms and classic luxury design, some reviews note that certain parts of the hotel and rooms feel outdated and in need of renovation, which is planned for the near future with a closure for two years. Service is generally helpful, with specific staff highlighted for their kindness, though some guests experienced inconsistent housekeeping and front desk responsiveness.

Location

Situated at Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz 3-4, Hotel Nassauer Hof stands in the heart of Wiesbaden. It is only 223 meters from the famous thermal spring Kochbrunnen, known for its healing waters. The hotel is a short walk from several dining options, including the Restaurant James Joyce (266 m) and Café ALEX Wiesbaden (267 m). For shopping, entertainment, and cultural events, the hotel’s central location across from the Kurhaus is convenient. Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is located approximately 24 km away, making the hotel accessible for international travelers. The nearest beach, Strand Bastion von Schönborn, is about 9 kilometers from the property.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Everything else is completely outdated, which explains why they’re renovating next year and closing for two years. This is definitely not a 5-star hotel — more like a 2 or maybe 3-star at best. I honestly don’t know how they managed to keep their 5-star status in Germany, where standards are usually quite strict.

My first room was a decent size for a single, but it felt like a sauna. When I called the front desk, they told me to “just open the window,” which would have let in every insect possible since there are no window screens. Later I discovered the heater was stuck on full blast, even though the thermostat was turned off — it was completely broken.

I asked for another room but was told the hotel was fully booked. Thankfully, Marta, a very kind staff member who brought me a fan, saw how unbearable the room was and advocated for me. Without her help, I might have passed out from the heat.

The second room I was moved to was half the size and smelled strongly of mold, but at least the temperature was tolerable.

Overall, I cannot in good faith recommend this hotel to anyone, especially not for the price they charge. I still have one more night to stay and honestly wish I could leave. I just hope I don’t get sick from the mold smell. I will ask if I can be moved to another room tomorrow but I doubt they will be very helpful at the front desk based on my previous experience.

Editing because I did receive excellent service in the morning from reception I did not catch the lady’s name, but she tried her best to make the situation right and promised me an adequate room when I came back from my meeting which she did. I still sticl by the fact that based on amenities it’s a 3 star, but I’m much happier with my room today.

I submitted a post-stay survey to LHW and the hotel but received no reply or acknowledgement from either, the hotel manager sent a post-stay email: "We would like to thank you for visiting Hotel Nassauer Hof. We hope that you enjoyed your stay with us and that everything was to your satisfaction. If all was to your liking and you would like to recommend our establishment to others, we would be delighted if you could rate your stay here. If you feel that something was amiss, I would appreciate a personal message instead. This will ensure we are better able to meet your requirements and wishes in the future. J.S. General Manager etc." my room seemed quite old-fashioned and less comfortable or luxurious compared to the room I stayed in previously in the other wing of the hotel, it meant I had to walk by reception every time I crossed the hotel but the reception staff would usually not even say hello to guests, or at least not to me. I had a US$100 spa credit in my booking, I asked a guy at reception who confirmed that he expected I could buy a spa product with that (some are displayed in a cabinet at reception) but the spa staff refused to sell me a product for this value, I ordered fried eggs at breakfast one morning, 10 minutes later they had not arrived, I asked another staff member and after another 10 minutes they had still not arrived so I then had to ask another 3 staff members until eventually they arrived (I was not going to leave the breakfast room until I received them), they do very small fruit salads in glass jars at breakfast, on one morning they had none left when I arrived for breakfast (still more than 30-40 minutes from the time when breakfast was finishing) so I had to forego any fruit at breakfast that morning, on my final morning one side/half of the breakfast room where I had sat for breakfast each morning was closed off for a special event later in the day, I also had a problem when booking the hotel on LHW website, the hotel decided not to include VAT tax in their advertised price making their rooms appear substantially cheaper than they actually were, I only noticed this when confirming my booking when the VAT tax was suddenly added into the price on LHW website (by which time I had already booked my flight) so I did not appreciate this seemingly misleading price advertising on the part of the hotel, it is not my typical experience with LHW website over my very many years of LHW membership

A fourty year ambition was achieved by staying at the Nassauer Hof. Whilst they’re clearly winding down a bit before the huge refurb, we had the best stay - gorgeous hotel, great room, charming personnel and the location is perfect.
Will start saving now to stay when the refurb is complete. Hope it retains its classy, restrained atmosphere. ❤️

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. It might have been a five star decades ago, but now the rooms are outdated (in every aspect imaginable), there is no turn down service (it’s basically super understaff and the ones who are there mostly don’t speak any German). Hopefully it will be bought and renovated one day, for now I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Spacious Rooms, Great Staff – But Not Worth the Price

The rooms are spacious and the staff is friendly and helpful. I was waiting briefly in the car for my parents at the entrance and got asked twice what I was doing — a bit much, but at least they’re attentive!

That said, the price is hard to justify. It may be 10–20% better than other 4-star hotels in Wiesbaden, but it costs nearly 3 times as much. The thermal bath is a highlight and definitely a nice feature, but overall, the value for money just isn’t there.

Top location. Hotel is beautiful. Rooms are below standard. Seemed like a 3-star hotel, metal sink, old tv and bed, small duvet. Breakfast had a line, which we never had before. Not really good for a leading hotel of the world, the worst one we’ve been to in a while. The room servixe is 7 euros extra, which is also not common in a leading hotel.

The Nassauer Hof is certainly the grand hotel of Wiesbaden! It's location is hard to beat, especially for the Christmas Market which we were there to see. Very centrally located and a stunning building. The rooms were a great size and very comfortable. The spa pool was a nice inclusion to the stay as well. The bar was very lively in the evenings. I did not eat at the restaurant, but it does have a michelin star and the hotel breakfast was good (if not a bit expensive).

Despite the grandness of the hotel, it's feeling a little dated. It feels like it was the height of elegance 40 years ago. No issues with the room, but I would say it was a little overpriced. Our view was of a nothing courtyard. The hotel bar allows smoking and was not so great to be in. We arrived with a car and it's not entirely obvious where to pull-in for valet or to unload luggage since the circle drive actually says taxis only. The staff was kind, but often seemed a bit annoyed to answer questions. The spa pool is nice, but basically just lukewarm and the sauna is an extra cost. The breakfast was good, but not quite worth the price tag.

All in all, a nice stay, but the overall experience doesn't quite live up to the curb appeal

My wife and I have enjoyed being guests at the Nassauer Hot for many years. Their excellent service begins the moment you exit your vehicle, and continues through check-in, the service from their Concierge, and our favorite wellness experience - the Therme Spa! The hotel has also improved their breakfast service, and the cocktails from their bar are always a special treat. Unfortunately, we've experienced problems from their Housekeeping staff, from leaving dirty dishes in the room to repeatedly disturbing our sleep - questioning us as to when we'd be checking out. These rude disruptions and oversights marred what would have otherwise been a perfect romantic getaway weekend.
