Wonderful. Had it not been for Denkmal day we wouldn't have ventured inside. So glad we did. Opulent doesn't do it justice, & you don't need to be staying here to experience a bit of it, there's a bar to one end, & if you enter through the main door & turn left, you'll pass many of the best bits on your way there. Eli liked that he got a big chair to himself!

I love this place. Coming back again and again. Service is great. Location is great. The Sauna and Wellness area is amazing. Just a great place. Go there and enjoy it

Vintage hotel. Air Conditioning in the lobby. The rooms could use a slight refresh. The bar was nice in the evenings. We traveled here in July 2024, but even in the middle of the summer it seemed as if the hotel was only about 1/3 full. The morning buffet was GREAT! Pet Friendly.

We spent five nights in this unique hotel with a fascinating history. It is set by the River Lahn in the beautiful spa town of Bad Ems. The facilities such as the thermal pool were superb and we made full use of them. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room was really clean and comfortable and the food excellent. It is unashamedly old-fashioned but is full of character and we had a superb holiday there. Highly recommended!

The place is old, and the carpets need renovation. The decoration is a bit heavy. The keys, although small, are attached to very heavy key holders what makes them unpractical to carry with, and because the reception closes at 10pm, you have to take them with you. The rooms are big and very clean. The sheets are old and not very smooth. There is only one kind of pillow that provides no support. The location is exceptional. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The spa area has a small but heated pool and a small jacuzzi. There are different types of sauna

Great property with nice, tastefully detailed interior. Some rooms can be on the small side but are sufficient. Everything is nicely detailed. The sauna spa is good and you have choices. Not every choice was up to my preference but overall it was very good. The saunas are beautifully detailed and that adds to a special experience.
The breakfast is very good with great panoramic seating. The coffee stood out as very drinkable. One thing I noticed, and it may just be that morning, there was a lingering cigarette smell in the breakfast area. As if smoking was allowed in a nearby room. The lobby had also an intense smell of some sort of incense which reminded me of these supermarket plug-ins. If you work there every day you will suppress the smell / intensity but as a guest it was a bit overpowering. The balconies on the Lahn side have an enjoyable view

While the exterior is striking and clearly historically significant as well as beautiful, the service here is absolutely horrible. Not just one amenity or service, but all of them. This hotel seems to be holding on by its history alone, not by any upkeep or by any 4 or 5 star level of service. The “children’s room” was also disgusting. There were room service trays left out for over 24 hours even with housekeeping passing by them all day. Highly recommend you keep expectations of superior quality and service lower than the reviews here suggest.
