Hotel Waldquelle in Aurich

We booked by phone, which worked perfectly. Upon arrival, the reception was unattended, which we had been informed of beforehand. After a phone call, we were able to retrieve our key from the safe and enter the hotel.

We only had room number 5. The furnishings were dated; everything looked a bit dingy, clean but not appealing. There was a smell of cigarettes in the air. We don't smoke ourselves. The bathroom was nicely renovated. Nevertheless, I lifted the toilet seat, and the underside was completely yellowed; it definitely needs replacing. The towels were also past their prime—some were burnt, stained, and had an unpleasant odor.

The service at reception in the morning was friendly and helpful.

We had booked with breakfast included, and yes, the selection was very limited. I had expected more.

The hotel generally has good reviews, but it didn't meet our expectations.

The hotel is in a very quiet, green location, although it's on a country road, but the room is very quiet. The single room is very small, the furnishings are old-fashioned and not really cohesive, and there's still carpet on the floor. The very small bathroom looks newly renovated, but it's really tiny, so you could barely turn around. Apart from the fact that room service didn't come one day because the lady was supposedly sick, the room was actually very clean. The bed was okay. The breakfast is perfectly adequate, although the same every day, but with a selection of cold cuts and cheeses, salmon and smoked trout, scrambled eggs, and boiled eggs. I missed having more raw vegetables. There were only cherry tomatoes.
