Reviews
The location is lovely in my opinion, right next to a golf course and just five minutes by car from the coastal town of Ahlbeck. I didn’t try the dinner, as Dorint hotels aren’t usually known for their culinary highlights, and they only offered a buffet.
Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the breakfast, both in terms of quality, selection, and service. The staff seemed rather unmotivated and not very attentive. On both mornings, I had to go up myself to ask for my coffee. There were no vegan options, which I find unacceptable for a 4-star hotel in 2025. Perhaps you could request it in advance, but I’m not vegan, I just prefer plant-based alternatives over dairy, and I think that should be standard in this category by now.
The scrambled eggs were clearly from a mix, no salmon even on Sunday, and the fruit was cut without much care. I mainly chose this place for the wellness area, so I didn’t have high expectations for the food, but it still ended up being disappointing.
Overall, the facilities are good and have potential, but the place feels a bit lacking in warmth and attention to detail.
Great hotel with outdoor pool and a couple of Finnish saunas that are available for all guests (not open 24/7, but ask at reception for opening hours). Breakfast provided a good spread with GF options available.
Absolutely not value for money compared to other hotels.
Much too expensive. Not what one should expect from 4 stars. Food was mediocre and the drinks quite bad. Other guests were mostly older and grumpy - not fun with family.
Room itself was spacious, bed was comfortable, but air vent was noisy inside the walk-in closet which had no door. Slippers needed to be asked for from the friendly reception staff.
A strange smell came from the bathroom which got worse when the door was kept shut, so I had to leave it open. Balcony door needed to be kept open over night to control the temperature inside the room due to no installed A/C.
Sauna area was smaller than expected and other guests using the pool walked through the quiet/resting area, so not too much relaxation possible unfortunately.
Food in the external located restaurant was ok, prices are higher than average. Breakfast buffet was super, great value for money and everything you could wanted. Overall it was a nice getaway but I would not come back here for another vacation.
I don't know what is wrong with the hotel, the planning, ventilation, or something else, but our room smelled like an ashtray after a couple of days.
Only tiny bits that I disliked but still with 4.5 out of 5 that is pretty good.
The positive things:
The staff was very friendly and very helpfull and the whole area was very clean and bright. The whole area screamed happy, friendly bright.
I liked that.
The breakfast was good and it tasted good. You had a great deal of variety and everybody would and could find something.
I know that there was also fish but complain at a high level but to have salmon would be fabulous.
The rooms were spacious and clean.
They had a gym and on first site this means...jippy for me. But on the homepage was no sign of a cost. But the gym costs 6€ a day. Why is it still in the positive area of my review not because of the price but because of the communication of it. The hotel accomodate that I was not using the gym 24/7 so they said I could go free for a second day. Or while using a seating bike for an hour, after asking it was ok to go. I welcomed that gesture a lot and I'm very thankful for that!
The tiny negative thing:
Yes, the price of the gym. For that in my opinion it could be a little bit bugger and a water fountain would be something very helpful too.
The parking area costs 8€ a day and I have to ask, for what? The car was in the outside no shadows or cupboards so why money for that.
It would be awesome to have a waste bucket at the breakfast table.
And when the breakfast is opening up at 7 am it would be lovely to ha e every table and seats ready. Because I would have loved to sit outside but that was arranged while we were already at the breakfast table.
Nonetheless I had a lovely stay and would recommend that hotel again.
Thanx for the stay at the hotel.
