Reviews
Starting of with the positive: the host was a very kind person and the location was great to get to all places around Eifel from. I had my roadbike and walking shoes and had a very active weekend.
The negative: every time I entered the room, the smell hit me hard. It's a weird smell between wet dog and 100 years of people sweat ingrained in the carpet. It was bad enough that I thought about leaving during night one, but I got sort of used to it after spraying parfume and then finally falling asleep. I thought about complaining, but read in the booking.com reviews that this was a problem in more rooms, so it felt useless to do so. Late at night I also found a bloodstain on the back of my pillowcase that definitely should have seen by the housekeeping during room set up as it was very visible. The host solved that quickly next morning, but I still had to sleep on that for a night.
All in all I would definitely not rebook and also would advice against staying here. I didn't find the place especially cheap and thinking back of the smell makes me a little bit sick. I don't believe the owners do not smell this and I think it's quite bothersome that nothing is done about it. One star despite the positives because for me the smell of the room took away all comfort of staying at a hotel.
Hotel was rustic, clean and quiet in the evening.
Room could use an update, we could hear the chairs of the breakfast room move, washroom was small, both beds were creaking in the night.
Nice area to explore either walking or cycling and was very close to walk to the ferry on Rursee to go on to Rurburg.
absolutely unbeatable (and not just for the price)
As I was solo, I booked a small single room. it was perfect for me.
breakfast was the 2nd best I've had in 30 days in Germany (and that is high praise). Plus! they were laying it out for me as the only guest in the place!
they have a lovely dining room which I didn't get to enjoy really (as it is a bit inconvenient to go into tow - 5kms away? - Wed to Sat they lay out a nice looking buffet for guests. (I was there on off nights, Sun, Mon)
nice people, spotless, lovely country location..... (and about 45euros for a single? and just 5 euros for breakfast? are you kidding me?)
I don't know. What's not to like?
The hotel is situated at the end of a road and is in a very quiet location. We parked at the bottom of a hill and had to hike up to the hotel with our bags (good for your fitness!). You could drive up closer to the entrance if needed.
We had been sent an email with a code to get our key out of a lockbox at the entrance, but completely forgot about this when we arrived. Tobias greeted us and gave us our key. He also explained about the drinks and food area. Drinks are taken based on an honesty system- you write down what drinks you had and then pay for them when you check-out.
The room and bathroom was quite small, but this honestly didn't bother us. It is a little dated, but very clean. The bed was a bit creaky, but still very comfortable. It was very quiet overnight.
We had a buffet dinner and breakfast- both were very good.
There is lots of hiking and cycling in the area. The hotel is not far from a large reservoir where you can take boat ride around or hike/run/cycle.
The pension was everything I hoped for and expected. It is in the perfect rural location, ideal for those hoping to enjoy all that this area offers. We arrived in the evening and I was pleased to smell familiar German cooking, although we had already eaten. The check-in was quick and simple and the room more than adequate offering a comfortable bed, white sheets and towels. The view in the morning from the balcony inspired a few photos before breakfast. The breakfast was traditional German food in a buffet format with plenty of choice. I could have stayed for more than the one night, but had a busy schedule ahead of me.
