Berghotel Wintersberg in Bad Ems

The Hotel is more like a B&B, but the rooms are all you need. Warm and cosy is winter.
There is a communal kitchen where you can go make tea and coffee, a stove & microwave to prepare lunch or dinner as the restaurant is not open for those hours. Breakfast is good. The view is Beautiful.
The hosts are very friendly.
Dogs are welcome and there are nice paths the take them for walks.
There are also puzzles and games avaliable for use. And a fridge with drink to purchase.

More of a very welcoming family guest house.

Decent hotel which gives a feel of family guest house. Not overly modern but decor fits the ambience perfectly. Owners are very welcoming. Room which we got was quite huge with a nice view. Also a small balcony.

Positives and negatives with the location, you need to hop in the car and drive to the city to get something to eat. But then you get a view and feel away from the hustle bustle of the city.

The hotel does have some drinks in the bar.

Breakfast is good nothing phenomenal like claimed by some other reviewers however I would go with the option unless you want to take up and drive down to the city for your first good coffee. Also the view from the restaurant is worth the price. They provide some homemade marmalades and quite delicious selection of breads.

It is clear this hotel is past its prime - which is a shame for it has a lot to offer travellers! The good things: The location, in a forest on a hill, is magical. The breakfast is excellent, everything you could ask for (almost, some more veggies would have been nice), served at the table, fresh and hot. The bathroom is really nice, great showers. Parking close by. Great service with tea/coffee and soft drinks in the foyer. Lots of channels on the sat-receiver. Wifi free, but on the slow side. Some minuses: The road, up a hill in a forest, will not suit all. No ventilation in the room, and no nets to stop insects... so either hot and stuffy or feed the mozzies. In fact ventilation all around seems to be an issue, the hotel smells damp and moldy. The garden could use some care, there is a point where "natural style" becomes unkept. If you enjoy old charm, quiet surroundings, being surrounded by nature and pleasant, attentive service, give this place a try.

Here you can eat super at a particularly good price-performance ratio. Everything is cooked with love. Especially the outdoor area with the great terrace. The view from here is impressive.

Beautiful view, friendly service, very tasty food (the lime roast was good, the three Chiabbatas extremely tasty). The only drawback: The (dairy), coffee was really bad.

Very pleasant stuff. Family friendly hotel. Nice location and marvelous mountain view.
