Hotel Athina in Sami

Everything about the experience was outstanding: the host, Makis, was very friendly and welcoming, the location was close to the hotel’s private beach, ensuring a quiet and relaxing atmosphere for your vacation. The rooms were tidy and well maintained.

This hotel is very basic with all the amenities, clean, nice sized rooms, great sea view, near the beach (50 m), generous and varied breakfast everything you need for a terrific stay.
The hidden gem, obvious to most reviewers is the owner Makis, a wonderful kind welcoming host. We are repeat visitors as are most guests because this man makes you feel like family. I’ve stayed in 5 star ⭐️ and luxury hotels worldwide, I don’t recall any with a more hospitable vibe than Athina Hotel in Karavomilos, Kefalonia.

Great basic hotel varied continental breakfast fantastic host in Makis it's in a spectacular position with the beach a couple of yards away! Free air con and in the evening great atmosphere in the bar! Free use of the 5 star Ionian emeralds pool across the road have booked for next year!

Never felt so welcome to a Hotel. I picked this hotel because of the reviews about the owner/host, I regret nothing. Maki is the king of making you feel welcome. Pure gem of this island. Book again in a heart beat.

Great Greek hotel. What it lacks in star ratings it more than makes up in customer service. The co-owner, Makis, is always on hand and remembers all the guests names. He also co-owner owns the Ionion emerald resort hotel next door and all the facilities can be used free of charge.

What a gem of a place, mikeys, the owner is so friendly and gets all the guests talking to each other. We have met Italians, Greek, ukranian, all lovely people

It was my first time in Kefalonia and I just wish I had been here a lot sooner.Makis,the owner, is a natural entertainer and is so friendly to all of his guests that most of them have been to the Athena before. We are already talking about when we can return!
