Hotel Konaki in Lygia

We stayed for a week at the Konaki Hotel. It’s a beautiful, small hotel with a lovely pool. (Only six umbrellas, though!) Thankfully, no one reserves sunbeds with towels in the morning, such a relief!

We believe we had a renovated room: very clean, with comfortable beds. Fresh sheets and towels were provided daily, and the floor was mopped every day. The air conditioning worked very well too!

The hotel is popular among Dutch guests. That wasn’t an issue for us, but we understand it might be for some.

We knew in advance that the hotel wasn’t located in a lively hotspot, so we rented a car for the whole week. In my opinion, a car is a must.

Now, about the all-inclusive concept… In all honesty, it’s not done very well. The hotel would benefit from either fully committing to it or not offering it at all. Many drinks weren’t included, and the ones that were available weren’t always great. Often watery, lukewarm, or flat. The alcoholic drinks that were included: beer, wine, gin, vodka, whiskey, brandy, and rum.

Breakfast was fine! plenty of choice 😊

Lunch and dinner varied in quality. Some days were decent, others quite disappointing. For example, we once had an overly salty tiramisu and potatoes with a very sour aftertaste. The selection wasn’t large, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but with a smaller menu, we had higher expectations in terms of quality. There are always fries and pasta for the picky eaters ❤️ And the watermelon was delicious!

The staff, however, truly made up for the weaker aspects of the all-inclusive experience. They are incredibly kind, hardworking, and genuinely make you feel at home. Always smiling and it’s clear they enjoy their work. Because the hotel is small, the team is too, and we loved seeing the same (smiling 😁) faces throughout the week.

The hotel owner was a bit different from the rest of the staff. He sometimes came across as a bit grumpy, but considering the long hours he works (seven days a week, from 7:30 AM to at least 9:00 PM), it’s understandable. That said, his demeanor might make some guests hesitant to approach him with any holiday issues.

On our last evening, there was live entertainment: a pianist and a singer. It was the first and only evening with any sort of entertainment during our stay, and to be fair: it was really lovely! Because the hotel is small, there’s a nice, cozy vibe when everyone gathers at the bar. It would be fun if they added more themed evenings. not necessarily with live music, but maybe a cocktail night or something similar.

All in all, I would rate the hotel itself 4 stars. However, due to the quality of the food and drinks, I’d give Hotel Konaki 3 stars. That part was a real letdown.
