Spent a night here on our Ring Road trip around Iceland. Lovely family run farm that has a guest house for travelers as well as Icelandic horse riding tours. It was a nice change from staying at hotels and the first time we really got to have some conversations with the knowledgable people who actually live here. Part of visiting a country is also getting to know the people… but it is easy to be distracted by the amazing geography Iceland has. We got in late but saw that Thea was waiting to make sure we knew where to park and showed us the guesthouse and our room. Our room was a double with private bath. It was simple room but had what we needed to rest and be comfortable. There is a common area and kitchen guests can use. Homemade breakfast. We did not have enough time to do a horse riding but they did let me photograph their beautiful horses, who were just as curious about me as I was them. Thank you for a wonderful memory.

Guest house outside the village, with horses and possibility of horseback riding. Cooking facilities.Must leave shoes on a rack at the entrance. 6 microscopic rooms on second floor, single bed for two, with one side leaning against the wall. The impression is that the original rooms were split into 2. You can hear the neighbors as if they were in the room. Microscopic bathroom with the smallest sink ever seen. Breakfast 8.30/9.30, sweet and savory, good, in a nice room as is nice and big living room. Very nice owner. Too bad the rooms are really small because otherwise it is very nice.

This little place was our favorite that we've stayed along the ring road. We not only stayed here but we also went horseback riding with Dottie.

You must do both....it makes for the total experience.

The owner of the ranch. Came out running to greet us as we arrived and showed us around his place. You can see the pride that he has and his location and how well kept and clean it is..

We came with our son who really enjoys horseback riding and the wonderful room that they provided. It had ample space for us to put our suitcases and the room was impeccable. It probably was one of the largest rooms we've stayed along the route. We were able to put things in the fridge that we had also use the additional common areas if need be.

We wish we could have stayed longer because in the morning we were able to have a great breakfast with the sweet owners. We had another place to go along the Ring road otherwise we would have stayed another night. They were so welcoming and we felt so at home. We even gave hugs on the way up.

This is a must for any family who has children who love animals and loves the open air. The hospitality was above anything...did I mention you feel like you are family yet?

We will for sure be coming back but for a longer stay.

This was our favourite accommodation of our two week vacation in Iceland. The area is stunning, accommodations clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and it was lovely to chat with the family who are all welcoming and informative. We also did a horse ride which was amazing, felt safe and got to see some more of the beautiful area. I would highly recommend Skorrahestar!

My husband and I did a 1 hour tour here and had a great time as this was our first time ever riding a horse! The ride was very easy and the horses were super gentle. The views were phenomenal! Passing cows, wild flowers, and walking along the stream. The guide was very friendly and patient. She also gave educated us about Iceland along the ride.

The property also has baby lambs, Arctic fox pup, chickens, and bunnies. Additionally it was no problem to take pictures of the other horses in the pasture after our ride.

Highly recommend!

Skorrahestar is an absolute dream. It is a beautiful property run by a beautiful and warm family. We chose this place initially for an Icelandic horse ride and took away so much more. The ride itself was incredible, from the carefully chosen horses to the amazing scenery and warm and knowledgeable family who guided us, everything was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and the visit and treats that followed were wonderful. The guesthouse has everything you need and is so warm and homey. There’s cards, a puzzle, kitchen - everything you need and more. Breakfast is included, we had to leave before it was served so the family made us delicious sandwiches with Icelandic pancakes to go. Perfect! This was our favourite part of our whole trip in Iceland.

Our stay at Skorrahestar was absolutely fantastic. The most authentic experience we had in Iceland. The hosts are a super nice and welcoming family and the breakfast with homemade bread is just great.
The horseback tour with Doddi was my favorite moment of our ENTIRE Iceland trip. He's an amazing horseman and a great person, he took me on a crazy tour among the fjord places telling stories and local customs. The horses are just incredible, beautifully trained with a true Icelandic soul. Honestly the best ride of my life! Hope to come back soon ❤️

So much fun, going horseback riding with these folks is one of the highlights of our whole trip to Iceland. So kind and patient and horses are so friendly. In the most beautiful valley and home makes you want to just keep staying here. Highly recommend :)

This was one of the greatest highlights of our ENTIRE Ring Road journey! A family farm with a super knowledgeable father, wife, and daughter! You will learn all about Icelandic horses, ride them, and see some of the most beautiful terrain the Eastern Fjords has to offer. They make you feel like family and it was just epic for our journey around Iceland!!
