Álftröð Guesthouse in Fludir

The most beautiful guesthouse, in the most beautiful setting. The rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable. The lounge area was great for socialising and cooking dinner. We even saw the Northern Lights both nights we stayed. I fell in love with this magical place. Thank you. X

I really enjoyed my stay. The host cooked a wonderful soup and the rooms were very nice and comfortable!

In the middle of almost nowhere, great views 360°, lovely owner. Guesthouse with 8 rooms (also family room). Large area to just sit and relax, you can take softdrinks and beers/wines out of the fridge and write them down. Rooms are just great, good beds, warm floor, super bathroom. Nothing over deluxe, but very well built with nice materials. Location is top. The landlady has some horses. For your lunch and dinner you have to go to Fjuđir, 10min car, where you'll find supermarket and ethiopan (!) restaurant (make a reservation!). And a bit further up there is more to find. One of our favorites in Iceland, that's for sure.

Amazing location with horses (!!) and all the basics covered. There is a bar (you can run a tab and pay at check out) and a hot tub, but it was winter, so didn't try that. The breakfast left something to be desired and there wasn't quite enough seating in the living space for our entire group, but no real complaints otherwise! I'd def stay here again as a basecamp for day excursions.
