Great find! The hotel is clean, modern, and feels very fresh. I’d definitely stay here again on my next visit.
Hotel Loa, opening in 2025, is absolutely the perfect stopover for a Ring Road self-drive trip on Iceland's South Coast. The hotel is conveniently located right off Route 1 in the town of Hvolsvöllur, making self-driving and parking a breeze with free, easily accessible parking. Major South Coast attractions like Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach are all within an hour's drive...
Nice rooms with great view, breakfast service was underwhelming.
Nice and clean hotel. I recommend getting a room on the back side for a lovely farm view.
The newest hotel on our Iceland adventure, it opened in July 2025. You walk in and can smell how new it is... very modern facilities, spacious rooms, a comfortable bed, Smart TV, and a very complete breakfast. I highly recommend it!
The most underrated hotel in that area. It is modern and newly opened. We were able to see northern lights from our window

Lovely campsite open in the winter! Campers do a self-serve check-in on an iPad at the hotel reception where you can also get a coffee or a drink. The lounge in the reception is open until 2200 if you want to play pool or chess. The parking for campers is around the back of the reception building to the right.
There is a nice WC and shower building close to the parking lot. Everything is very well...
The hotel is located in a charming paradise, surrounded by breathtaking nature. The homemade bread is excellent, and the breakfast is good and varied. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We were also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights! It’s very quiet, and we slept extremely well.
If you are travelling with a campervan on a road trip, and need a campsite to stay, this is great. There is a self-serve kitchen area with all essentials you require along with some extra condiments etc. The lobby also is very nice.
Helpful and friendly staff.. top quality food.. good location
We camped here. This was one of my least favourite campsites on our ring road trip. It really wasn't clear to me where we should park based on the signs. No one was working here when we arrived dinner time to ask any questions so we just did what other campers did. But I still don't think we were all parked in the right place. View was nice from camper.
The common room / kitchen was really well equipped...
Super easy check in. Ate at Hygge which was recommended by the hotel in an email and it was sooooo good! Beds were very comfortable. A little outdated in terms of room furniture, etc but it added to the charm. :)

Good location near a couple of restaurants. Free hotel parking and great breakfast. Our room was a family room which was really big and had a large sofa.
We stayed here for one night as part of our tour with Trolls. The room was spacious with a comfy bed and all the toiletries. Loved the shower!! Breakfast was also very nice 👍 would recommend to anyone who’d like to stay here for short term.
The hotel is located in the center of the town. Very easy access to the hotel. Nearby there is a grocery store and the fantastic Valhalla restaurant. The hotel rooms are clean and tidy. Guests have at their disposal HotTube and a restaurant. Staff very friendly and helps with everything. I recommend.
Eco friendly hotel. But great place if you want to see the Northern lights. We had gone out looking for them, and on our return, was surprised to see them above the hotel.
Only stayed for one night but had a great experience. The hotel staff were always super friendly. There is a restaurant and bar at the hotel along with a hot tub. There are also a few restaurants/shop only a 5 minute walk away.
We stayed in a triple room which was big though shows it’s aging and required some improvement. The breakfast was great with variety of selections. Loved their different flavors of yogurt. The location of this hotel is great. It’s close to route 1. Nearby there is a Lava Center which is well worth a visit.

Friendly staff, lovely hotel, beautiful hot pool and sauna, highly recommended!
Clean room, dinner and breakfast very well, comfortable place. Thank you so much for all
Everything is so beautifully decorated. The spa was lovely.
We loved everything about this hotel in the charming countryside backed by mountains with views of Icelandic horses and the distant sea in front. The food at the restaurant was some of the best that we experienced in our weeklong stay in Iceland. The breakfast was complimentary with many options to choose from. Plenty of activities offered by the property including horseback riding with wonderful...

Amazing place, lovely view and best position to visit the south coast .
The place was very clean and very close to Seljalandsfoss - a great place to stay if you’re touring the south coast. Staff was also very helpful - I left my earbud on the bed and they kept it for me to pick it up on our way back to Reykjavik x
Only complaint is the drain was quite smelly when we got in. Would be great if the staff could air the toilet a bit before the next guest!
Nice hotel which is reasonably close to the airport. Shuttle service (one way) from the hotel to the airport is a bonus. Too bad there's no shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Not sure why.
Dinner at the restaurant was good, and is the only dining option available. We didn't see any restaurants within walking distance.
Our only complaint is that our room was very warm even with the window opened...
Great area in the country, as we were able to view the northern lights. The lady who checked us in was so kind. She went above and beyond!
Great stay! Thank you!
We ordered dinner and it was delicious! The breakfast options were plentiful.
So lets start with the 2 minor negativ points : the outward apperance is deciving and no hottubs (witch makes sence due to the windy area )
Now to the good part :
Very clean rooms and good beds
The hosts are very nice
And the food is amazing
Dinner 8/10
The datecake is life changing, ill never look at cake the same way 12/10
Good coffee and amazing breakfeast 10/10

A little tight with space but you will be fine.
beautiful location, very clean
The hotel is a resort with a golf course. It is close to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and is located in a remote area, so it is only suitable for self-driving. The service is basically self-service. The location is quite far from Highway 1, and the room was very clean.
The hotel is located in an isolated position in the countryside near the village of hvosollur. There is a restaurant inside with prices in line with Iceland. In the morning there is an excellent breakfast buffet with sweet and savory. The room was clean and well heated. Great for those who love nature, you need a car to get there.
A lovely continental breakfast with ham & cheese available. Would have preferred bread rolls in addition to bread for toasting, but that's only nit-picking. Cheesy pancakes were lovely. We started the day well.

The location of this cottage is absolutely impressive. It's all new and fully equipped. We had a great experience. It s much better than its shown in the pics. I do recommend it !
Small beds in the log cabin. The lock to the Cabin did not close properly. For the price they there has to be better service and communication for the customers.
We loved our time here and we were a little sad to leave to go on other adventures! This is the perfect place to sit and read a book and watch the world go by. There's a nice kitchenette, very comfy beds, and a cozy interior. I would definitely stay here again if given the chance.
locatie was mooi, de rust en de openheid van het landschap was erg fijn.
Very special location at a horsefarm, quiet environment with a view at the volcano Hekla. And we have a new friend in Iceland: the dog Kautur 😘
This was a wonderful place to stay! The owner was exceptional in taking care of our needs! It felt like we were staying with family—it was quiet—the bed could have been a little more comfortable—and it would be nice to have a place for suitcases—I would come back and highly recommend it!

We stayed here for muliple nights during summer and had an opportunity to stay in both the glamping domes and the guesthouse. Had an amazing stay. Have nothing but praise for the kind owner. Well maintained rooms and showers. The kitchen is industrial grade and well stocked with supplies and utensils. A large and cozy dining hall and relaxation areas. The owner goes out of the way to accommodate extra...
Our stay at Godaland Guesthouse was a wonderful surprise. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, you’ve found the right spot. The rooms are very cozy, the bathroom is clean, and there are plenty of complimentary breakfast items. Just keep in mind that there’s no option to cook your own meals here.
Amazing experience! The whole place has a unique vibe. I think that the main building was converted from a school into a guesthouse. The food preparation area looked like a former commercial kitchen and was well equipped – from food products to dishwashers, etc. You could cook a meal like a pro if you wanted to. The dining area was cozy, the glamping tents were wonderful, and the owner was super kind...
The property was really Home like. Great host. And very welcoming. The kitchen supplied everything you needed and the area to sit was incredible. Nice and peaceful and definitely would come back. This hotel doesn’t get the credit that it should. It was perfect.
Very awesome customer service. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. You get to shower in warm water and you don't even need to bring your own towel. The tent is beautiful and cozy. When you open the tent the view is amazing. The kitchen was very professional but still easy to use. There are some leftover food in the pantry that you can use. If you come here (which we recommend), ask anything you...
We surprisingly had a wonderful first glamping experience. The beds were comfy, clean, family friendly facilities. It’s a family run location and they were very welcoming. Highly recommend to everyone!

Amazing experience at Bru - we stayed in Jan and the cottage was very well warmed and cleaned. We had problems retrieving the keys but the owner was super kind and fast in helping us get them. All in all amazing place with sick views. Also a must mention that we saw the lights from this place as it was dark enough! Can you believe it?! Insane
The bungalow is situated in the middle of an open field, making it easy to see the Northern Lights. The room size was sufficient for our group, and the kitchen was adequately equipped for cooking. The rooms were clean and ideal for relaxation.
There is an open grassland in front, and you can also see the Seljalandsfoss waterfall in the distance. The environment is very good. The room has kitchen facilities, which is convenient for family travel, and there is an extra place to wash. The disadvantage is that the water heater has a small capacity. After one person takes a shower, there is almost no hot water, and the next person needs to wait
The house is great, with beautiful views, snow-capped mountains opposite and very close to Seljalandsfoss Falls
Probably the best cottage I have ever been. And best location for northern light spotting. Highly recommended
There is nothing around. If only the weather was good, I would have seen the aurora... The facilities are just perfect, so the stay was good, but the hot water was cut off during the shower, which was very difficult. That's why I deducted two stars.

Very remote guesthouse on a working farm. Well equiped kitchen to share with other guests. Beautiful views. Relaxing. No television.
Room was very clean and so was the private bathroom. The shared guest area with the kitchen was well maintained. The view is beautiful from this guesthouse. Would highly recommend!
Very nice place to stay. Not really any staff around, but everything was provided and there was no need for staff. Excellent kitchen area.
The price is typical of Iceland, but it's perfectly satisfactory for a night's stay! You'll need to drive about 3km on an unpaved road, so you may want to consider whether to have a car, especially during the winter. There are no shops nearby, but cereal and milk are provided, so you won't have any trouble finding food (thanks!).
You can hear the voices next door. It's not a hotel, it's a regular room...
Need sometime to figure parking. Room tv needs upgrade.

Lovely comfortable stay on an Equestrian Centre.
Lovely stay on an equestrian centre. The guesthouse was clean and comfortable with an enormous upstairs sitting room with tea and coffee available.
Breakfast was adequate but convenient.
It was lovely to see the Icelandic horses outside the window and to be able to visit the stables to meet them up close.

This cottage stay was a new experience for me, and I really appreciated the peaceful setting and cozy atmosphere. It’s a lovely place to unwind, surrounded by nature.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the northern lights during the night I stayed, as the sky wasn’t clear enough. Still, the location felt promising for aurora viewing, and I’d love to return for another chance.
The cottages are small, like most reviews say. I think they are comfortable for 2 or 3 people. Are they the most comfortable? No. But they cover all needs you may have. I feel like most people come to Iceland expecting the same accomodations from back home. If you come here expecting the same comfort as home you will be disappointed. Iceland overall is more expensive than most countries, that doesn...

Excellent location and very charming little cottage.
I didn’t expect much staying in our rustic cabin the countryside. But for what they charge – the cabin really was not in great shape. There was broken furniture, the kitchenette barely had any silverware. Views are amazing, Location is great, the people are nice. But at least a nice well maintained cabin would be nice.
Great place for our first night in Iceland!
This was our first night in Iceland. We checked in late, however the front desk lady was super friendly and accommodating. We drove up to our cabin and it was a perfect start to our trip. Very rustic and quant. The three of us comfortably slept in a bed each. Would recommend!

This hotel is probably the cheapest one near the Black Sand Beach, but the infrastructure is a bit poor. There is no problem with the Internet. If you drive yourself, you can park for free at the door. This is a hotel with a relatively high cost performance in the nearby area, but the accommodation conditions are a little worse.
Good hotel, probably one of the most special hotel i stayed in. Have great history.
Breakfast was alright *recommend to use toilet half floor above cafeteria. Less people and not occupied.
Really fun dorm like experience. Comfortable rooms, towel provided. Shared bathroom with doors that close for toilets and showers. Excellent location touching the base of Skogafoss (beautiful hike). Staff is very helpful, found our food bag we forgot and saved it for us in the fridge until we returned. Nice common room to interact with other guests and good breakfast to start day.
Great location between two beautiful waterfalls. The house is very old though, and there are very few toilets and showers for the number of rooms. Breakfast is good.
All rooms in this hotel have no toilets or bathrooms, they are all shared and the facilities are relatively old
This is the first hotel where I saw the Northern Lights! It's really great! Although the hotel is not big, it is very cozy! The bathroom and toilet are relatively large! The location is great! Lovely place to stay. Guesthouse Húsið was clean, cosy, and very comfortable after long days exploring Iceland. The rooms were well kept and warm, and everything felt thoughtfully arranged. A great base for travelling around the area.

A Restaurant in Hvolsvöllur that offers a cozy and artistic atmosphere, blending local craftsmanship with casual Icelandic dining. The café is filled with handmade pottery and art pieces, giving it a warm, creative charm that sets it apart from typical roadside stops. It’s a comfortable place to relax, especially after exploring the nearby waterfalls or the Lava Centre.
The food, however, is a bit...
It feels cozy inside, the workers are polite and the fish and chips are absolutely delicious. These are easily the best for taste and portions around Iceland, and we are finishing up the our trip around the country (including the west fjords) soon. We also ordered hot drinks and those were tasty of course too!
Cozy and comfy road dinner where you can try a selection of local foods as well as dishes inspired by other cuisines (like poke bowls). The garlic bread steals the show - it's simply marvelous! The lamb stew and fish gratin hold their ground and the staff is always there the help if you cannot decide. Ah, the local lager is also order worthy.
I am not exaggerating when I say this place has the best fish and chips I have ever consumed.

Lovely simple room. Great view. Good hot tub. Lovely staff. Fab breakfast
Our room was great. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They had a small bar/ lounge area on site. Offered a nice breakfast to start our day.
Excellent hotel in a rustic/boutique hotel overlooking an Iceland range down to a river. All rooms are cabins grouped in four but very private and very modern. Two geothermal hot tubs. Restaurant with a small kitchen, chef, and support staff was excellent! Bar area with a sitting area that has a fireplace.
This is conveniently located near Hvolsvöllur, and a short drive off of route 1. The road to the lodge is rough though. The main lodge and cabins look recently updated. The lodge has a beautiful view and fireplace, and small bar area with couches. They offer free breakfast, and you can purchase dinner. There are two hot tubs that look out over the expansive view. Unfortunately, the weather was so bad...
