They bent over backwards for us, had great recommendations, the best food we’ve had, and made us feel so at home. This place is a hidden gem and I hope many, many more people go and see them!
Arthur and Caroline were extremely welcoming and excellent hosts. If the weather had cooperated it would have been and excellent place to see the stars and perhaps the northern lights too.
There is no sitting room there so we met in the dining hall. I always opt for the pan fried cod when I travel domestically and this one was a bit of a disappointment. Served on top of a potato puree and rather bland
If you want to unplug from your busy life and reflect this is a wonderful place to do it. The Scenery is out of this world. The lodge offered a comfortable stay
I was travelling with some old friends and we stayed for two nights and had dinner there once. My bed was like out of HC Andersen fables, one mattress on top of another
Very comfortable room. Clean fresh. Great staff

Stykkishólmur Inn is not just a hotel — it’s the largest artwork in town, where each hallway, room,... and corner tells a story of something that almost happened.

Our rooms are cozy, simple, and thoughtfully designed for comfort and curiosity. Whether you’re staying in a small double or a larger room, expect:

Comfortable beds with quality linens

Private bathrooms with modern fixtures and soft lighting

Minimalist Icelandic design with occasional quirky touches

Wall murals and art installations just outside your door, part of the hotel-wide exhibition of “almost-true” history

Each floor features a different near-myth or unrealized dream — from UFO landings to peace summits. The public areas (lounges, hallways, stairwells) are part-gallery, part-time capsule.

You’ll find:

A welcoming lounge with seating and story fragments

Surreal murals inspired by real ideas that nearly happened

Calm, quiet, and clean rooms with personality — never clutter

A feeling that your stay is part of something a little bigger

Whether you're here for a night or a week, you’ll sleep inside a story.
This isn’t just a hotel. It’s a map of Icelandic dreams.

The staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful—they even send a detailed welcome email before arrival with useful information, which really helps make check-in smooth
The Polish receptionist really improved our stay, giving us more information about the activities in the region, as well as the history of the place and current affairs
Patrick was amazing and super friendly - he actually made us a dinner reservation at a local spot in town too! We all got excellent rest for our first night after flying and woke to a delicious breakfast buffet included with the stay
What a spectacular find, with no reservation, at night. Wonderful location, all the history, former convent with chapel, great rooms and outstanding breakfast buffet. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Patrick
Crazy little find in what feels like the middle of nowhere. Clean, right in town, and the most comfortable beds we’ve had on our trip. But the star of the show was Patryck! He was so friendly and informative
He gave us a restaurant recommendation and it was one of the best restaurants we’ve eaten at. We were asking him a million questions about the area and he answered them all happily! He deserves a raise
