everything, from value for money to very comfortable bed to aurora viewing
Beautiful hotel, on top of a hill overlooking the town, the coast and the mountains. Good food, restaurant looks out over coast and the amazingly designed modern church., Lovely room. Bottom bed sheet was rough but good for exfoliating while you sleep!😂
a really nice hotel. we stay in the restored part and it was perfect...
This hotel is located on a small hill, overlooking the sea, a very picturesque view, especially from the Restaurant (see one of the pictures). The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. The only reason why I cannot give 5 stars is that the shower in our room needed a bit of renovation, as it was showing the signs of time. The staff is very friendly, they helped us during a work related emergency...
Our room was AMAZING! Huge, clean and breathtaking view of the church. We splurged on a 3 course meal and glad we did- it was incredibly delicious. The chef even came out to us! Being vegetarian we asked for certain substitutions and they were happy to accommodate. Highly recommend. Best dinner + dessert we had in Iceland.
Clean and comfortable hotel. Room is clean and bathroom is adequate. I could see the church from my room so that's a bonus. WiFi is a letdown though. Overall it's not a bad place to stay.

Beautiful hotel! We had a gorgeous room on the end with sweeping views of the harbor, ferry, and lighthouse. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful. The location is perfect, as it is just above the area where strolling is best. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The hotel was a gem to find. It has a church inside and if you are there at the right time you can hear the choir sing. The staff in the evening and morning were extremely nice and helpful. The room and bathroom were tastefully decorated and very clean. We had an ocean view which added to the overall charm. The breakfast and sitting area were also wonderful (see pic). I think I counted 7 different...
A hidden gem. The room is sparkling clean and tranquil. Really like the little coffee machine in the room. Breakfast is also very good. A gorgeous chapel on the ground floor.
it was a very special experience to spend one night in this hotel, because when I was 5 to 6 years old I was in a preschool where the hotel breakfast is today. Another thing that was really special was that there is a Catholic church inside the hotel. good breakfast great staff. great location. good hotel room.
Loved, loved, loved this hotel... from the mind-blowing view (Room 216) to Magda, the ultra friendly and helpful person at the reception desk. The room was so clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The complementary breakfast was delicious. The location is perfect...it's right next to the dock where the boats leave for Flatey Island. I wish I could have stayed here for a week.
I spent three days at this hotel. Good location. The room was nothing fancy. But it clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. And the staff were friendly and helpful. I would be more than happy to stay here again.

If you find yourself in that area this hotel is the perfect stay, we even saw the northern lights from our bedroom!
Very nice and accommodating owner. Very clean facilities. Excellent breakfast (the home made flapjacks were very good!). We had a lovely stay. I would highly recommend this place as a couple, family or even on your own.
Really lovely host. Warm, comfortable accommodations. Parking. Nice beds and breakfast! Loved my stay here
I really loved my stay in this hotel. The owner is lovely and does everything to make sure you have a great stay. I highly recommend & will go back here next time :)
We stayed in June 2019. We were greeted by the owner who was lovely. There is parking outside the guest house. I would say when pulling up it doesn't look as great as the inside: scandavian style with spider plants accenting tables. The inside is lovely and beautiful decorated. Comfy beds. Very clean. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard and kept ever so neat and tidy this can be seen throughout...
We stayed here August 2017. The hotel was very conveniently located close to the harbour in Stykkishólmur and perfect for exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The staff really were exceptional and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. I damaged my walking boots and Lara gave me a pair of boots to save me buying a new pair in Iceland which was prohibitively expensive. The rooms were spotlessly clean...

Very well located and cozy accommodation. The man who loeva it is charming and very friendly. We have enjoyed our stay at Hofdi.
Great shared house. Owner lives at the property and is very kind and accommodating. Everything was clean and the FREE breakfast was delicious. Very nice spread. Only complaint is the single bathroom.
Nice house, good breakfast. Bathrooms are shared with other guests, but there are 2 plus another shower. The town is really nice
Warm and cozy home away from home.
Accomodation in a panoramic and welcoming position. The owner lives in the house, which he equipped with 5 rooms x guests. The only drawback is the sharing of bathroom and shower: only one x 5 rooms. Excellent breakfast, beautiful common panoramic lounge, hot tub available for guests. Recommended.

Very clean and nice place, would love to have the hot tub clean and ready to use
The room was really pretty, and the breakfast very nice too. There were towels and Wi-Fi.
Nice area. Clean and cozy rooms. Good number of shared bathrooms
We stayed there in our way out north. It's a nice family run place. Nothing fancy, but a good, clean inexpensive place to stop for the night.

Very nice decoration, very cosy and comfy, and well situated by the port.
Excellent place. I called it the ghost hostal (this is good! lol) because I received a message prior to my arrival with all instructions. They have parking but also there's a larger public parking right up front. We arrived, parked, used the pin code to get in the hostal and our room. Made ourselves at home, never saw any staff. The place is SO cozy, I love it. Its also right by the docks and walking...
Lovely guesthouse. Stayed for one night. Kitchen was on the same floor. Car parked at back and was accessible from backdoor too. Nice people, wifi was good. Clean and also nice cafe in front.
Great place to stay. Very clean. On the lower level there is a full kitchen that you can use. The location is great, right next to the harbor. Despite having a restaurant on the first floor, it is quiet in the rooms. Really nice to just sit back and relax in the open area on the first floor or outside.
A lovely hostel with a great atmosphere. Cooking facilities were good - plenty of seating in the basement. Rooms were plain but had everything you needed. The cafe has lots of treats great coffee and retro furniture.
We only visited the Café and it was amazing. Cappuccinos great. Vegan wrap and the spicy tomato soup were great. Not to mention the home made cakes. The ladies who run the cafe bring their home made cakes/food and are super nice. We absolutely loved our stop there, very homely.

This place is great! The location is perfect and the staff is very friendly. We arrived after the normal check in time, and she met us within minutes of us calling. We were worried about having nowhere to have a late dinner, but she provided several options (although the internet had they were closed). The room was very spacious, and the breakfast had a lot more options than we expected.
We spent two nights here in July on a quick tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula on our way back to the States from the UK (took advantage of Icelandair's free extended stopover). Absolutely charming place- the guest house used to be a restaurant but the owners converted it a few years ago. Room had a private bathroom and was very clean and quiet, excellent wifi coverage and included breakfast which...
Charming. Beautiful. Delicious breakfast. Great hosts. Without question would stay here another night; maybe the rest of my life.
In 7 nights we stayed at 6 different accommodations. Since they were each unique I can’t pick a favorite, but I must say this was the friendliest. I enjoyed speaking to the innkeeper about the wildlife, and the local lifestyle. I find these subjects fascinating. I am glad I spent a night in this town. I felt like I had the opportunity to see how Icelanders live. About our room. It was small...
Akkeri Guesthouse is lovely, cozy and the hosts make their guests feel comfortable. We highly recommend it!

I was travelling with some old friends and we stayed for two nights and had dinner there once. The rooms are ok. My bed was like out of HC Andersen fables, one mattress on top of another. I was worried I might fall off the edge so I placed the chair at the edge. I slept like a log. The place is very quiet there and they have a good view towards the south, over the bay. There is no sitting room there...
Fabulous place a bit out of the way but worth going to. Really friendly staff, including our waiter Artruro. The food was very delicious. Love the sauna and hot tub. Just a 20 min walk to a lovely waterfall. The rooms were clean and very roomy with 2 comfy chairs to sit upon. Highly recommend this hotel. It is a gem!
I had the chance to stay at Vogur Country Lodge on May 25, and it was a wonderful surprise to discover such an outstanding place nestled in breathtaking natural surroundings. The views are incredible—majestic mountains with waterfalls on one side and a serene sea dotted with small islands on the other. The room was superb and the bed exceptionally comfortable. The service was equally impressive—warm...
Out of 12 days in Iceland, this was the best stay experience we had. Artur and Konstantin were so nice and helpful, even for just two guests. They bent over backwards for us, had great recommendations, the best food we’ve had, and made us feel so at home. This place is a hidden gem and I hope many, many more people go and see them!
We watched northern lights in front of the hotel thanks to the staff
I recently joined my colleagues for a company retreat at the Vogur Country Lodge. This lodge is located in prestine country side on the south west coast 3 hrs from Reikyavik. If you want to unplug from your busy life and reflect this is a wonderful place to do it. The Scenery is out of this world. The lodge offered a comfortable stay. Beyond the setting this lodge provided some of the best quality...

Stykkisholmur, Aðalgata 8, 340 Stykkishólmur, Iceland (in the centre)
Stykkishólmur Inn is not just a hotel — it’s the largest artwork in town, where each hallway, room,... and corner tells a story of something that almost happened.

Our rooms are cozy, simple, and thoughtfully designed for comfort and curiosity. Whether you’re staying in a small double or a larger room, expect:

Comfortable beds with quality linens

Private bathrooms with modern fixtures and soft lighting

Minimalist Icelandic design with occasional quirky touches

Wall murals and art installations just outside your door, part of the hotel-wide exhibition of “almost-true” history

Each floor features a different near-myth or unrealized dream — from UFO landings to peace summits. The public areas (lounges, hallways, stairwells) are part-gallery, part-time capsule.

You’ll find:

A welcoming lounge with seating and story fragments

Surreal murals inspired by real ideas that nearly happened

Calm, quiet, and clean rooms with personality — never clutter

A feeling that your stay is part of something a little bigger

Whether you're here for a night or a week, you’ll sleep inside a story.
This isn’t just a hotel. It’s a map of Icelandic dreams.
