Holt Inn in Flateyri

Spectacular Inn! The Holt Inn is a wonderful Inn. Easy check in experience, professional friendly staff. The included breakfast was tasty and varied. The hotel is ultra quiet and located in Flateyri. It is only 20 min or so drive to Isafjordur. The Inn was very clean, the rooms were well appointed. There is a common room to relax and read. There is a small gift shoppe with handmade items. The Blueberry Jam made by "Helga" is out of this world good! There is a small self-serve beverage fridge, you pay for items at the end of your stay. There is a fantastic hot tub, set in a private forest on the property. 5 Stars all the way! Iceland is wonderful!

Stayed here with my wife and kids and had a great experience. 10/10 highly recommend. Beautiful nature and a great place to escape to that’s still close to town.

We arrived late but Cindy was there to greet us and give us our key and overview of the property. She was also there at the excellent breakfast and chatted with us about her life in Iceland and gave us recommendations for things to do in the area. We saw whales from the pier and walked along the quiet beach. Overall an excellent stay.

My family of four had a lovely stay at the Holt Inn. The room was spacious and clean; the property nestled in a gorgeous and peaceful valley; and the hostess Cindy (whom my 2.5 and 4.5 year olds loved) was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. To top it off, we saw the northern lights and about a million stars from the hot tub!

This was an excellent experience. The Inn is fairly simple. It's comfortable. The rooms are pretty basic, very clean and comfortable. The common areas are basic and clean and comfortable.

There's a microwave in the dining area if you have leftovers or bring something simple. There's a cookie basket in the evenings. There's also a communal refrigerator in there. Breakfast is a buffet . Standard stuff, cold cuts, yogurt and cereals, cheese, bread, some cakes. They are eager to provide alternatives for people with special dietary needs and allergies as well.

We got in on the later side and Cindi called a neighbor who sometimes will cook dinner for guests at the Inn. This is a hit or miss opportunity, we just got lucky.

The real special thing about the Inn is the service. Cindi was INCREDIBLE. she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. She provided tons of information about the area, things to do, when and where to go, hiking routes, which bakery has the best cinnamon roll, you name it. Catarina was also lovely.

If you want to stay in a quiet area and have impeccable service from kind people, this is place.

Staff was excellent, personable & attentive. Room was a little small but adequate, very clean & comfy. Great rural location with amazing views of the sound & mountains.

Cindy and Katerina were excellent. We saw bottlenose whales. There was a quaint book store and unique dining options. Highly recommend!!

A wonderful experience! The inn is located in a very well-done conversion of a school that is part of a compound that includes a church and cemetery. A very relaxing country atmosphere. We didn't find many hiking opportunities accesible from the property, but plenty to do nearby. The staff was outstanding, very friendly and providing much advice regarding local sites and hiking opportunies. The staff was the highlight of our 2 nights at Holt. The breakfast was excellent and is the only meal offered. For others, Flateryi is a short drive and has 2 options (only one after 5:00 p.m.). But then there is Kaffi Sol, which is on the way to Flateryi. The posted hours are 12-5. But, reservations can be made for evening meals. They are homecooked by Gunna and were delicious and she was wonderful. Dining at Kaffi Sol was a highlight of our stay not only at Holt Inn but of our entire travels in the West Fjords.
