This was not my first time at Hotel Djúpavík and I left completely satisfied. Even though I was the only guest in the hotel that night, or maybe because of that, I was perfectly taken care of in every way. Moreover, it was a beautiful clear night with the northern lights on it. Djupavik is simply the best place in the world.

A warm, comfortable place to stay surrounded by stunning rugged beauty. The chocolate cake in particular was excellent. I wish I could have stayed much longer.

I love Djúpavík for many reasons. Its location and scenery, remoteness, uniqueness. The hotel is cosy and homey, rooms are simple and comfortable. Service is typical for Iceland: cool but welcoming, perhaps “basic” for foreign standards. You don’t come here for amazing service. You come here for the experience, the delish food and cakes, the unique scenery and access to a hidden world - with blazing fast internet.

But be warned: the roads are HORRIBLE and whilst no F-roads, you’ll feel sorry for your car and yourself. These roads are no fun during good conditions let alone fog, rain or at night. Locals will navigate these on 2WD but don’t be fooled, even in a Land Cruiser you’ll get your fair share of frustrations.

The hotel is set in a truly unique location, surrounded by breathtaking mountains and the sea. Although it’s not the easiest place to access, the journey is well worth it—once you arrive, the stunning scenery and remarkable architecture will leave you in awe. The staff are exceptionally friendly, the restaurant serves delicious food, and the rooms are cozy and inviting. What made my stay unforgettable was the night concert held in an old abandoned factory—a one-of-a-kind and surprising experience that I will cherish for a lifetime.

Full of character and history - a real gem.

This is my favorite hotel in Iceland and I have stayed there twice. I went with my sister-in-law and we stayed in the little red house by the stream. We were there 3 nights and had all our meals there. Please try the pan-fried cod. The place is really quiet and you wake up to the sound of running water from the little stream. I plan to come back.

The most charismatic hotel in all of Iceland. We love everything, the people, the service and the food. Best fish you can have in the most beautiful little place you can imagine.

Free coffee and excellent chocolate cake and friendly service in the middle of nowhere after an hour on a loose surface road: bliss. The scenery is breathtaking on the western fjords and somehow, the weather is on our side with frequent strong sunshine

This is a really special place in a magical part of the country. It feels like you've arrived at the end of the earth -- in part because of the challenging drive. During my visit a few years ago, the roads were getting washed out and closed due to heavy rain and I was almost stranded (not to mention, almost swept into the sea..). I arrived very shaken and stressed but received the warmest welcome and a hot bowl of soup. Unfortunately the bad weather cut short the time I had planned to spend in this part of Iceland. Be sure to tour the old herring factory. It was extremely atmospheric and I loved it.

Property was a little old but it was very cozy. I loved the different sections to chill around. For me the isolation of location was the best part. Breakfast was very good and people very amazing! This was my favourite stay during my vacation.
