A Mixed Stay Undermined by Service Gaps and Pest Concerns

I recently stayed at this four-star property with my 3-month-old child and found the experience to be a mix of commendable elements and significant shortcomings that fall below the standards expected of a hotel in this category.

The initial welcome was warm and professional, setting a promising tone for our stay. The restaurant deserves mention for its good-quality food, although service was hindered by a language barrier, with only one server proficient in English. This occasionally made communication challenging for non-Italian-speaking guests.

Operationally, the hotel struggled to meet practical needs for families. The lift was extremely slow, forcing us to carry our baby’s stroller up and down stairs multiple times—a considerable inconvenience and certainly not in line with four-star service expectations.

More troubling was the presence of cockroaches in our room. We reported the issue four days before departure, yet no action was taken while we were on-site, nor were we offered a room change or meaningful assistance. Only after we had checked out did the hotel propose compensation, offering a €100 voucher towards a future stay of at least seven days—a gesture of limited value given that we do not plan to return.

Equally disappointing was the noticeable decline in service after full payment was made. The attentive hospitality shown at check-in did not continue throughout our stay, leaving us feeling unsupported during significant issues.

In summary, while this four-star property offers positive elements such as good dining and a welcoming arrival experience, it falls short in crucial areas of service recovery, operational efficiency, and guest care—particularly for families traveling with young children. It is difficult to recommend under these circumstances.
