Ogawaya, Gero1 / 30
9.4
Gero, 570 Yunoshima 🧭 Map
Everything about the hotel was excellent, including the meals, shuttle service, and room options.
Impression: Ogawaya was one of the three day-trip options I considered for my Gero trip last summer, and it left a great impression then. So, when planning this winter trip, I really wanted to stay here for a night
stayed in the new wing, room was new and cosy. Even has shower in the bathroom. plan which onsen to go carefully, as there are certain onsen which are only available for either male or female on certain hours.
Since I booked late, I was lucky to even snag a room. Service: The front desk had a Chinese-speaking staff member who was, hands down, the loveliest Chinese-speaking person I encountered on any of my trips
We booked a private onsen, which was wonderful, and the room itself was spacious, bright, and fully equipped. There was plenty of hot water, and the bedding was comfortable and warm
Facilities: During my day trip last summer, I only got to use the women's bath that was open in the afternoon. It was very clean and had a silk bath

Very warm experience Onsen & room - Clean and decent with Japanese design (Apply to the one inside the room & public onsen) Lobby - Filled with the western classic design For sure, we will return for 3rd times visit to Sasara
Our family have a great time staying in Sasara, the staffs are nice and easy to communicate. They serve traditional Japanese style meals, dinner and breakfast were amazing in terms of presentation, taste and feel
Great hospitality - Staff are friendly and helpful
Definitely will come back for next trip
In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent
That’s why we used the Onsen area for showering which is beautiful and includes all amenities. View above Gero and including an outside Onsen area to watch the sunrise

This room is the most expensive one we stayed in during this trip, but it doesn't feel very good. The bus from the station to the hotel needs to be booked in advance, and it is charged, about 80 yen/person
Five women in their 20s stayed for one night. It was very clean and the buffet was delicious. Karaoke is available for 1 hour and table tennis for 30 minutes; you need to fill out your name and make a reservation
First, the food was pretty good. You can pre-order an extra menu for dinner; check the hotel's official website for details. Both dinner and breakfast are buffet style, and you can sit anywhere
The price is a bit high during the National Day holiday. The shuttle bus to and from the station is too rare. There are only two hot springs, which is a bit too few. The open-air bath is a hot spring with a balcony
It's the season for stink bugs, and even though the windows aren't designed to open, they kept getting into my room, causing quite a commotion. Please be aware of this if you're going during the cooler months
When we wanted to go to the Gero Pudding shop, we parked in a nearby paid parking lot and walked. There were many types of yukata available, with different designs categorized by height

The hot spring baths here are excellent, particularly the furo. It wasn't crowded, and it's conveniently located. My only reservation is that the food wasn't as varied or plentiful as it has been on prior visits
A charming and comfortable traditional Japanese ryokan. The location is excellent, directly opposite the JR station; you can easily reach it by following the pedestrian signs across the railway tracks
The service was excellent, however, the hotel breakfast was quite mediocre. The price is reasonable for Gero, and it's conveniently located very close to the JR station
Excellent location, conveniently close to both the station and tourist attractions. The hot springs were very comfortable.
Overall, it's an excellent value-for-money option, and the open-air bath was also very pleasant
Overall, it's still a very good choice

The host family was very friendly and provided the best service and meals. The hot spring is also small, but the water is very good and clean. It is a place that I definitely want to visit again in the future
The hotel was a bit far from the station; it took about 20 minutes to walk there with luggage. However, it was very close to the hot spring town. On the return trip, the hotel sent someone to drive us back to the station
I experienced the best satisfaction at a price that is not expensive for a ryokan. The building is old and worn out, but it was well maintained and clean, and unlike the outside, the inside was quite spacious
The rooms were a bit older, but that added to the traditional feel of the hotel. I have a wonderful time relaxing. My only disappointment was not being able to pay with credit card
Although the hotel was a little old, it was quite clean. Soaking in the hot spring water at Gero Onsen made my skin feel smooth and silky – it was a wonderful experience!
Several staff members spoke English and everyone was very kind and helpful. They let us practice our Japanese with them and went out of their way to make us feel at home

Good hotel. If hotel provide the pick up & sending service between Gero train station & hotel, its hotel will be able to attract more guests.
The meal (Japanese style) is wonderful. Onsan options is one of the best onsan hotels I have ever stayed
It was 8 PM at Hida-Hagiwara Station, completely deserted, when I saw the hotel's dedicated car – I was so touched! I can't imagine what I would have done without it. It was snowy and freezing, and we had missed dinner
The hotel front desk staff couldn't communicate in English. Unlike some tourist hotels that primarily employ foreign workers, this hotel mainly has Japanese staff, many of whom are from neighboring Japanese cities
The food quality was just average, and it was pretty much the same for several days, which was a bit. but if you don't book meals, the surrounding area is quite desolate with no restaurants or convenience stores
It's located in a place that's a bit difficult to get to without one. I think there's a bus, but it took about 20 minutes by car from Gero Central. There's an open-air hot spring and the facilities are nice

Just call at the hotel on the time you arrive at the train station. There is an information at the train station so you can ask a help how to call the hotel, the staff there will help you
Oh, but the noise from upstairs? The soundproofing wasn't great, and the whole room vibrated when people walked above us, haha! Aside from that one point, everything else was absolutely fantastic
We stayed at Wanpakutei, just like last year. We received a gift for our dog shortly after arriving. As our dog is elderly, we were able to get a tatami room on the second floor with a great view, as requested
Very nice place near and services. If you are a pet lover you stay with your pets at the hotel ryokan type, Japanese style hotel. With shuttle service from the train station to hotel
The facilities seemed a bit dated, but it was clear they were well-maintained overall. The tatami room was spacious and lovely, and all the staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly
Right next to the accommodation, there were Gero Pudding, butter sandwiches, and several souvenir and trinket shops. A Lawson convenience store was also conveniently located within a 5-minute walk

The homemade meals were carefully prepared and packed with nutrition, leaving me feeling satisfied (^^) It's definitely a good option to have meals included!! The natural hot spring bath felt amazing, the view from the room was full of greenery, and the sounds of birds, the river, and nature were so extraordinary that it's a place I would definitely want to stay at if I came to Gujo, and would want...
Dinner was a French course meal. The quality was high and I ate it all, but some women and children might not be able to finish it. It might be best to ask when making a reservation
The dinner is typical French dishes (it is near ski resorts). You can spend minutes and minutes observing all small details of the painting collection on the walls, and also other crafts scattered everywhere in the house
Our fourth stay was on August 8th, and the well-maintained mountain lodge-style building, the cool mornings and evenings, the silence of the lush forest, and the faint sound of a babbling brook hadn't changed at all
A magic place: the nature envelops you, trees are all around when you look out from your room windows, or from corridors’ windows. You can watch leaves and mountains from the indoor hot bath
Both breakfast and dinner were made with carefully selected ingredients and cooked with care. I imagine there are many repeat guests like me who support this location and food
