Juraku Stay (formerly Leopalace Hotel Niigata) in Niigata

Hotel is within a short walking distance from the station. CoCoLo inside the station has endless restaurant, foods and souvenir choices and are very fun to browse. Hotel staffs were all friendly, helpful and professional. They all provided excellent service. We got room on the 10th floor in the corner end so it was quiet which is great. However the room we got looks worn out - the wallpaper near the entrance were peeling off, many scratch marks on the wall throughout the room, the bedside lamp was flickering a bit. The bathroom floor is 1 step higher than the room floor so gotta be careful not to trip stepping in and out of from the room. The biggest complaint for me was the water flow on the sink and shower. When turned on the tap initially made a loud sputtering noise while no water was coming out for a good 1 minute making me wonder if it was broken. When using either the sink tap or shower, the water will every now and then sputter violently (scared me a few times in the middle of shower) and/or stop coming out briefly and have inconsistent temperatures along with it. The buffet breakfast was good though, variety of dishes and all taste good, breakfast staffs were all very polite and welcoming. Overall the hotel is ok value for the price, but I think some refurbishing of the worn out part of the rooms will help make the stay more comfortable.

We booked this hotel months in advance and the only room available was the smoking rooms. They absolutely stank of cigarettes - to the point where I don’t think they’re cleaned in depth between stays. This is our fault as we could’ve found another hotel with non-smoking rooms which we will do next time.

This place is pretty good. Close to the station, tasty breakfast, kind staff, fine room

The bed was rock hard. It felt like I was sleeping on a box spring.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, though.
