This is hands down the best value-for-money hotel I've stayed at in Japan. The location is superb, the price is affordable, and the facilities are excellent

I had a wonderful experience staying at Hotel Associa Shizuoka — it’s a fantastic choice for both leisure and business trips! The location is unbeatable — right next to JR Shizuoka Station, which made getting around super easy and convenient

The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and polite, always ready to answer any questions. There's a smoking room on the first floor. If you're visiting Shizuoka City, staying at this hotel is definitely the right choice

The room was spacious, and the location was super convenient – the airport shuttle dropped us off right at the hotel. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and there were shopping malls nearby.

The room facilities are complete, and the hygiene is very good. The service attitude is excellent. It's a five-minute walk from the JR station, making it very convenient to get to Miho no Matsubara and Nihondaira

Situated near the station, good business hotel, everything is there, ideal for basing and exploring the region. Japanese breakfasts, delicious. Good Wi-Fi. Shizuoka is a super city.

Location of the hotel was excellent and right next to the train station. Breakfast was very small but it was included so can't really complain. We did enjoy our stay!

The port has the Chibi Maruko-chan Land museum and Shimizu Fish Market. There's also a ferry terminal at the port with boats to Toi, Izu. This is a transit hotel with great value for money

There are tons of delicious options at the food court on the first floor of Shizutetsu, plus an ochazuke place nearby – too many good things to try! There are also plenty of extra amenities available next to the elevators, as well as a microwave and ice machine

The hotel's location is excellent, and the room was cleaned thoroughly during my stay. The in-room facilities are a bit old, so travelers who are particularly sensitive to cleanliness might want to consider this

For a Japanese hotel, the room was quite spacious. The hotel is a circular tower, and all the guest rooms are on higher floors, offering views of Shizuoka, with some rooms even boasting Mount Fuji views

You can also see Mount Fuji from the windows in the hotel hallways, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't good during my stay, so I didn't get to enjoy the view

The location is excellent and very convenient, with a direct skybridge connecting to the JR station, so you don't have to worry even if it rains

The room is good and clean just right for a solo traveler. The bed is okay (some might find it kind of hard), the only thing that bothered me is the pillow, it’s hard so it is difficult to sleep

This Hotel is located just opposite of the Takayama JR Train Station it’s very good location to travel around thec city of Takayama and close to convenience store FamilyMart

The location is very convenient just right in front of the train and bus station. There’s a large public bath on the 2nd floor, the amenities are all good and you can also borrow a hair straightener while staying

The single room was a bit too small for three people, so two rooms were just right. The hotel thoughtfully arranged two adjacent rooms at the end of the hallway, which was convenient for us to visit each other

Of course, there's also a spa, complete with a sauna. Needless to say, this hotel is state-of-the-art, and I stayed for two nights

Room was spacious and hotel had lots of little perks like happy hour drinks/food, free breakfast, TV with Chromecast feature. Spread at breakfast was good but if you went later some food would run out

the room is clean and the places is good there's a lot of restaurant and mall nearby

Breakfast was perfect for me, who wants rice, bread, yogurt, sweets, miso soup, and side dishes little by little, and it made me feel good

The place was very welcoming and very nice, just a word of warning the ***** bath is not tattoo friendly, if you have small tattoos less than a size of a post card they can give you stickers to cover.

2nd night is good: room (small as jp style), atmosphere, jp breakfast, free car park are ok. Only concern is, they can speak English very little

The accommodation was clean and the room was very spacious; I could easily fit two large suitcases at once. The staff came to collect the trash regularly

Hotel is in a good location, very close to 7/11 and station. Hotel is not new, but very clean. Stuff has a strange policy of giving them key before living, but it's nothing difficult

Very satisfied! A particular highlight was the young Chinese lady at the front desk. She's Korean Chinese, speaks Korean, and offered incredibly detailed information with a wonderfully kind and approachable demeanor

Hotel was lovely, compact but enough space for two people and location was good as well. No major complainrs would visit again for sure.

One thing worth mentioning is that the hotel did not have a smart TV, so YouTube or other streaming services were not available. This is something you sometimes miss when you return to your room early in the evening

Even though I used translation apps and tried my best to communicate, and the staff also did their best to understand and translate their side, it still did not work out

In most cases this is manageable, because you do not need much beyond check-in, check-out, sending your luggage, or asking for an iron. However, in my case it involved renting a parking spot

This does not require replacing the TV, but simply adding a Google or Android TV dongle, which I would also suggest as an improvement

Not the best place if you have a choice. Internet was not working properly. Rooms had a slightly bad smell. I had to move to a different room.

Great hotel just a few minutes away from the train station and fish market. The room felt spacious for 2 people with big suitcases. Lounge area had free alcohol in the evenings

The hotel is quite new, the service is good, and it is close to Qingshui Fish Market. The service attitude is good. The only drawback is that the Internet speed is a bit slow. The tea self-service is good.

A bit dated but the toilet is refurbished. The bed was Sealy’s and was super confortable. Just next to the station and the room was pretty big. A very tiny bit of smell from the carpet or the walls probably.

I had a very pleasant stay at Garden Hotel Shizuoka. The location is excellent, with easy access to Shizuoka Station, shopping areas, and plenty of nearby restaurants, which made getting around very convenient

On a nice day, it would be perfect to visit the Prefectural Office (opens at 10 AM) to see Mt. Fuji, then take a stroll through Sunpu Park

Located in the heart of Shizuoka City, this is a very good, well-established hotel.

The hotel is incredibly close to Shizuoka Station, about a 5-10 minute walk, and surrounded by restaurants, Don Quijote, and convenience stores, which was really fantastic! I highly recommend it! Also, if you walk about 10 minutes, you'll find the Shizuoka Prefectural Office and Sunpu Castle & Park

It was also interesting to see many schools nearby! If you're visiting Shizuoka for a trip to a smaller Japanese city, I definitely recommend staying here! Unlike other accommodations in Japan, this one was quite spacious! For reference, we stayed in a twin room

We inadvertently chose to have breakfast and the staff were incredibly nice, though the food was just average. It's still worth trying at least once

📍 Suikoen 翠紅苑 @ Sumatakyo, Shizuoka 🇯🇵 (Stayed 1 night on 16 November 2025) We stayed one night on 16 November 2025 at Suikoen (翠紅苑) during our visit to Sumatakyo, and it was a peaceful and traditionally charming ryokan stay surrounded by mountains and fresh forest air

The ryokan was quiet at night, making the stay peaceful and restful. 🅿️ Free Parking + Garden Smoking Area The ryokan offers free designated parking, very convenient after finishing the valley hike

• However, the building/wing where our room was located has no lift and is staircase-only. This is important for guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns

🛏️ Traditional Japanese Stay Our room was clean, cosy, and had a warm, nostalgic Japanese feel — perfect for relaxing after visiting Yume no Tsuribashi

🏠 Traditional Ryokan Layout Suikoen has two different structures: • The main building has a lift, which is convenient for guests staying in that wing

The layout still feels traditionally Japanese, adding to the charm of the stay

Breakfast is as terrible …staff tried their best to convince kitchen staff…. but they failed in serving proper vegetarian breakfast even after choosing food on their options…

I've been traveling to Shizuoka more frequently since April, and I thought I'd found a good hotel near my office, so this was disappointing

I had a very pleasant and positive experience in this hotel. The location is conveniently located across from Shizutetsu Shin Shizuoka station. There are many stores, restaurants and convenience stores nearby

Staffs were courteous, polite and friendly. The room was very clean and I enjoyed larger bath 🛀 compared with typical Japanese bathtub. I would highly recommend this hotel

It was convenient and the location was good, but when I went to take a bath, even though I had never used the bathtub before, there was hair around the faucet... It felt a bit dirty. Other than that, I was satisfied.

Although the room has a sense of history, it is well maintained. The 29-inch suitcase can be unfolded by the door. The breakfast is rich in variety. It is a very attentive hotel.

The hotel's floors feel like a museum, taking in the beautiful retro-style interiors. The service is good, and everyone is very polite. The hotel has only one washer and one dryer, which doesn't dry well

Clean, nice hotel. Old. Low ceiling. Wifi only on room floor (3 different ones?) The view from the window was non-existant (another building) but very cheap. Breakfast was really good and super cheap. (even cold milk :))
