Read about this place in my outdated Rough Guide and I think in the Lonely Planet that is more recent for Eastern Europe. It was a great find! A bit of a ways from the train station so we took a bus in and a taxi back out for an early train, but very inexpensive to do so and the location was worth it! It's right near some of the most gorgeous gothic churches and right off a main food pathway, and right across from the main plaza with the Cathedral, palace, and fortified hill. Everything was so walkable, even to head out to the synagogue or the museum of occupation. My spam folder ate the email with check in instructions, but I was able to call over data on my phone using Skype credit and the manager answered and walked me through checking in after hours, which was super easy! We then formally checked in the next day and arranged for the taxi on departure. The hotel rooms are off a courtyard so was very quiet. Some of the other guests were not very considerate about locking doors and being quiet, but after hours it was quiet and we slept well with the windows cracked open and a good breeze, listening to the rain at night! The bedroom was very spacious. One of us slept on the double bed and the other on a couch pull out bed. This was a main floor room right next to the manager's office. I loved the preserved details from earlier architecture in the room, the frescoes and stone and wood. Bathroom was lovely. Everything was clean. Not the most uptodate style but all very comfortable and a lovely place to stay and be central and experience the charm of the Old City. The manager was very friendly, appreciated all interactions with her and her willingness to answer general cultural questions. We did not do breakfast here because it was offered quite late in the morning, but we found an excellent breakfast at a cafe just down the street. Recommend staying here for a quiet and charming stay!

Nobody at the site at nighttime

The toilets and showers are shared. The location is good. The entrance is quite hard to find. You need to enter a pin number. You are given three keys, and it's difficult to figure out which key is which.

Great place!

Very characterful hotel in atmospheric part of the Old Town. Huge well furnished room.

Reception very helpful but only open a few hours.
The door locks were very awkward.

So many things recommend this place, from a quiet location in an eighteenth-century courtyard in the very center the Old Town — around the corner from dozens of coffee shops, restaurants, and convenience stores — to the modest price. Self-service access to rooms upon arrival, and good security. Rooms are faultlessly clean, with no sound issues from neighbors. The firm bed was a standout winner on a trip that involved seven other hotels. A family-run establishment, one gets the sense that they are debating how much to keep investing. Bathrooms are dated, with a musty feel; furniture is clean, but equally from another era. Reception is staffed for only a few hours each day, at unpredictable hours.

Reasonable price for reasonable living. Perfect location in the Old Town with great coffee, food and such only a small walk away. The breakfast was OK I reckon, nothing fancy but I've had worse. Enjoy your stay if you choose to.

Delightful experience, especially unique for this Canadian. Good value and easy walking distances to all the old town highlights.

We stayed here for 4 nights, arriving late at night wasn't a problem, we received very clear instructions on how to get where. We stayed in a double shared room, it was very lovely, nice and clean. We travelled 500 km, but Bernardinu B&B House staff really made us feel like at home. Good wifi, excellent service for a great price. Great location, very close to main tourist attractions and stores. Safe yard for car parking as well. Thank you very much!
