Reviews
This resort is located 107miles from the main airport and requires a seaplane transfer, which in itself is an amazing experience. A Maldivian entrance upon arrival with complimentary drinks was a great introduction to life at Raaya.
The resort is considered big compared to others and the best thing about it, is that it all feels private as if you booked the whole place! There are buggies to take you around the island which pick you up from quaint little “bus stops” or you have the option to jump on a bicycle and explore the island yourself.
We booked an overwater villa which was great. The clear, turquoise sea is your own private pool with the ability to rent (for free) snorkelling gear to explore the reef.
The Raaya plan is amazing with the sunset cruise, 45min massage, renting of certain equipment and activities all included!
The staff are attentive and a massive thanks to Saif (our host) who accommodated all our needs and ensured our dinners and activities were all booked. Nothing was too much for him to do for us.
The buffet was decent however the Al A Carte menus at the Italian, Middle Eastern and Japanese were great. I even booked a romantic candle lit dinner on the beach for a celebratory dinner which felt like I had hired the beach to ourselves.
The RAAYA plan allowed us to dine at each of the specialty restaurants once during our stay. All three venues were nicely presented, and while the food quality was average, we appreciated the effort the chefs and staff put into every meal. For other meals, the buffet was the main option. It became slightly repetitive toward the end, so more variety would be welcome, especially for longer stays. Seb’s Shack offered a nice change of pace with its selection of snacks and light bites.
The buffet restaurant appeared understaffed at times—drink orders occasionally needed to be repeated, and the staff seemed to be working at full capacity. This was clearly not due to a lack of effort, just a matter of limited staffing during peak dining hours.
When we initially tried to book the specialty restaurants, we were told they were fully booked, which caused some stress. Fortunately, Nadie managed to arrange all three reservations for us. However, it would be helpful if this information were communicated at the time of booking, as guests should not have to worry about availability after paying for their stay. I would strongly recommend that future guests make their specialty dining reservations as soon as their booking is confirmed.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This was our first visit to the Maldives, and my family loved every aspect of the experience. A big thank-you to Nadie for her attentiveness and to Abhishek for keeping our villa immaculate throughout our stay.
We stayed in a Deluxe Overwater Villa and honestly didn’t find a single negative throughout our entire stay.
The cleanliness was exceptional — housekeeping came at least twice a day, and the minibar was refilled daily. Everything was spotless.
The food was incredible, both at the buffet and at the specialty restaurants we booked. Every meal was a highlight!
The spa itself is a true relaxation experience and absolutely worth visiting.
All the staff were extremely polite, professional, and always smiling — genuinely eager to help. Special thanks to Rahim for his excellent service!
The villa was spacious, beautifully designed, and had a stunning view. We also loved that the island is relatively large, with beautiful beaches, plenty of greenery, and a resort design that truly preserves the island’s natural vibe.
Thank you for everything — we sincerely hope to return in the future! 🌴🌴🌴
*If we had to mention one small suggestion, it would be adding a clothesline to hang swimsuits to dry.
In short, the island was magical, super tidy and every inch of the island was cared for. It also wasn’t an artificial island, as a lot of islands in Maldives are.
Room service was amazing and often (twice a day). Everything in minibar was complimentary and replenished daily.
The Raaya Plan was perfect for us — just the way I like to vacation. All the restaurants and food were fantastic, seriously delicious. Same with the bars and drinks — everything was top-notch. Even when it rained, there were still plenty of fun things to do, which made a huge difference.
But what really impressed me the most was the service. From housekeeping to the bus drivers, from the front desk and host to the restaurant staff — pretty much everyone was amazing. A few people really stood out:
• Mo from Raaya Life – hands down the best service staff we met. Just incredible.
• Draco from the pool bar – his service was top-level. He had the vibe of a classic British butler — I loved that.
• Arush from the Sunset Bar – super easy to talk to and really lifted our mood every time.
• Dana, our host – so responsible and thoughtful. She made sure everything was perfect for us.
Now, I did say it was almost perfect, and the only thing that really didn’t go well was the photography service.
There were two photographers. The tall, slim guy with long hair was actually pretty good. But the other one — the more muscular guy — gave us a really bad experience. He wasn’t patient or professional, seemed really careless, and just wasn’t friendly at all. Honestly, it felt like he didn’t even want to be there, which totally ruined the vibe.
So yeah, that was our whole experience at Raaya. I’m really hopeful you guys will keep getting better and better, and I seriously can’t wait to come back again next time!
