Leerhotel Het Klooster in Amersfoort

The hotel is set in peaceful, quiet surroundings, and the historic building — a former monastery — is definitely the main attraction. The staff were polite and friendly, and they brought us an extra chair upon request, which we appreciated.

However, the rooms are quite basic for the high price — just a small table and one stool for two guests. No mini fridge. No bath robes or slippers. The tv has only cable channels and no youtube/streaming services. In late May, the room felt a bit chilly, and we weren’t able to turn on the heating. The buffet breakfast was sufficient, but limited (compared to other hotels in The Netherlands for the same price) and not restocked during the last hour of service.

At checkout, we were charged an extra €5 per person as a tourist tax, even though our booking said all taxes were included. Only card payment was accepted.

Overall, I’d recommend this place to those specifically interested in staying in a historic building surrounded by nature. Otherwise, it feels overpriced for what it offers (the actual hotel facilities).
