I loved this hotel. My husband was on a beekeeping training trip so I came along for the holiday. I had so much to do to entertain myself - swimming in the outdoor pool, then swimming in the wave pool indoors, then sauna and steam room. It may seem somewhat out of date but I stayed there in 1986! I can recognise the bar (it was called the Getwouwen Bar (the roped bar)) in those days. It was a great place to stay and I stayed there several times.

This is not a 4 star hotel. It is a three star at best. The rooms are basic and dated. Some rooms don't have a fridge, the TVs are tiny. The layout of the hotel makes getting to the far rooms like the scene from the movie "The Shining." Redrum. I stayed there for the MotoGP race weekend, and they basically tripled their rate and then cut the "all-inclusive" that is advertised all over the hotel...

Hotel is expensive, they are now fully booked. Because they rent out the left wing which is full of immigrants. Unfortunately I am human also I don't want to see misery or scary people when I am on business travel or pleasure.

This is the place you want to stay! The room (416) was outstanding. Very clean, the lighting was exquisite and the 2 person jetted tub was heaven to soak in. I will stay here again. And the breakfast was AMAZING….

More than decent! First time staying at a Van der Valk and was pleasantly suprised. High standard, clean and well-apointed rooms (apart from glass bathroom door - no one ever liked that). Great pool and spa area, decent restaurant and scrumptious breakfast. Not last time with Van der Valk!

The price was okay, breakfast was included and had a wide variety for all appetites. The room was clean and smelt fresh, the sheets were clean and ironed, and the receptionists were very friendly and spoke English. Only letdown was there was some stains in the bathroom, but that did not affect the function and therefore I am giving this hotel a 5-star review.

It's really located in a forrest. The staff is very polite and friendly. The chalet is very nice. It's very clean and comfortable. The surroundings are nice and quiet. Renting a bike to see the area is s great experience. The TT Assen circuit is close by.

Fairly low budget hotel. Service was OK, friendly staff. The building is old, which gives a nice vibe. However, the rooms are not all well maintained. In our room, the shower cabin was broken with sharp metal edges. The carpet in the halls showed various stains and smudges. The breakfast was delicious! Perfect, I really love this hotel

I find it difficult to understand that a hotel that defines itself as excellent, is supposedly a 4 and a half stars and charges 180€ a room per day only offers a tiny piece of soap as toiletry, doesn’t have a minibar in the room and the parking is very far from the entrance. Besides it doesn’t include breakfast in such level of price.

It’s ok. Not great, just ok. The rooms are very nicely decorated and recently renovated. However, they won’t let anyone use the (perfectly operational) fitness center at the moment because they insist on storing a [redacted] ton of towels in there. Night mare I liked the wurlitzer music box on the entrance. Room temperature was a bit cold for me this could be because of long curtains blocking the radiator. The night shift guy has some anger control problem. I waited 5 minutes outside of the hotel on the first night and 15 minutes, on the last,as the gates were closed after midnight.

The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. It's a little far from the city center, so it was quiet. I imagine that if there had been people or cars making noise outside, I would have heard it quite a bit, but that wasn't the case during my stay, so it was very comfortable. The staff were also kind. Did the job, but no frills and small bathroom. Check in was late, got there at 3pm and was told room wasn’t ready so had to come back after 4pm, not good enough and no real apology. Reception staff weren’t particularly friendly.

One night stay for 24 hours in Groningen and it did exactly what we wanted. Easy check in, clean room for a family of 4 with 2 sets of bunk beds and a shower. Budget hotel in the Groningen Centrum Great location, the room is pretty small, the bathroom also pretty small. But clean ans affordable But unfortunately, on our last the the lift is under maintenance. So we have to bring out luggage thru stair and quite painfull

The hotel is very clean with a great location in the centre of the city. The room is spacious and even though there are three beds in the room there is space to move and place suitcases. The room is quiet with ac. Breakfast is 18 euro per person so we decided to walk to Starbucks instead.

Breakfast starts at 7 AM. Last day not all breakfast stuff was in place before 7.30 AM. As a business traveller, I'm prefer breakfast starts at 6.30. The room interior could have been more modern. Appreciated the jacuzzi in the room. Otherwise the interior in the lobby etc is cool.

Very central location. The hotel has its own parking garage close by. It was unclear though that you had to prereserve a spot. On our first night we had to park in a public parking garage. Good breakfast and nice large rooms. There was a slight cigarette smell in our room though. Unclear whether that was due to the neighbours or previous hotel guests.

Excelent accomodation in the center of Groningen

The accommodation is very tasteful and clean. A simple but good breakfast and friendly, honest and helpful staff make this hotel a tip for all those who are not satisfied with mediocrity. Unfortunately, it is not completely quiet, especially at weekends there is a lot of partying in the streets until late at night.

My only complaint is that there is no elevator and the steps we had to use were a huge obstacle. I could barely make it up the steps and going down was just as bad as the stairs were very steep

The single room is very small. The breakfast is mainly cold dishes such as bread spread/cheese and fruit, as well as one or two hot dishes. Toothbrushes and indoor slippers are not provided. The front desk is nice, but the facilities are really just that. The location is very convenient
