Stayed at the Metrotel for 4 nights while we had a wedding near by. Happened to be the same weekend as Americana so the hotel was fully booked. Rooms were clean, very spacious and modern and have a balcony to enjoy the fresh air. Kitchen amenities as well which we didn’t use but was great to have.

The bed was comfortable however the pillows left a lot to be desired. Both were super Soft and flat, which really was an issue for us. Would have appreciated a harder pillow option in the cupboard or as a second pillow on the bed.

Free parking available on site, which was full given the hotel was full but we were still able to get a spot. Staff were friendly and check in process was super quick.

Location is fantastic, you won’t find a better location. Walk to everything. Centrally located to everything you might need, Main Street shops, cafes and restaurants, main shopping centre across the road and the water and coastal walk just one block away. You really won’t need the car to get around town, everything is walkable from the hotel which is what we did, it was great.

Highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to stay in New Plymouth

We have booked an apartment with The Metrotel. It was a pleasure to stay at this motel in New Plymouth. The staff were welcoming and polite, the apartment was well-equipped and spotless clean.

The Metrotel is located literally near the coastline within 3 minutes walking distance. It’s just far enough from the crowded going out-area with the cafes and restaurants. The restaurants and cafes are nearby, by foot.

The supermarkets (Countdown, PAK’nSAVE and New World) and also the beach are within a 5 minutes drive by car. Lake Mangamahoe Forest is in close distance too. Taranaki Maunga is a bit further away.

Very pleasant is their own parking lot and laundry service located on their premises.

Our stay at Metrotel was disappointing. The room was in desperate need of a revamp and was shabby overall. The floor was dirty and sticky, furniture peeling and faded and the walls had large areas of peeling paint and a lot of wear and tear. When we got into bed after walking around our room in bare feet, our feet were black on the bottoms.
The reception staff were nice however when we requested a travel cot, they bought the frame and then we had to call and ask again for them to bring a mattress and sheet. The cot was also broken and two of the sides didn’t stay up.
On the whole, the location is very convenient however that was really the only positive aspect of our stay.

Lovely room, clean, good amenities.
Unfortunately spoiled by the view, into a back alley, very noisy in alley thru night and in early am.
Wouldn’t want to sit on balcony with that view😥

We had a great family stay here. The unit was clean and well set up, with everything we needed. Plenty of space, comfortable beds, and it was nice and quiet. Staff were welcoming and accommodating. Convenient location close to shops and attractions. Highly recommend for families.

Great staff team. Good sized room, kitchenette has full fridge freezer. The location is handy walking distance to shops, restaurants, Pukekura Park, and the seafront walkway.

The room is on the first floor with a terrace and excellent accessibility features! It has a stovetop for cooking and is very quiet. The room is spacious, overall 100%!
