Radisson Hotel in Haugesund

I had previously stayed at the "old" Radisson a few times and never really been impressed. More recently, I had used various hotels in the city centre but I was keen to see what the new Radisson offered. The first big plus for me was free, secure on site parking. I never liked leaving my car in a public car park int he city centre and paying NoK 250 to park overnight. The reception/bar and restaurant is a large open plan area with plenty of seating. Only one person on reception could make check in rather slow and bar service even slower given the bar is the reception. The new rooms feel fresh and comfortable and a having a view out over the water was a bonus. Personally, I thought the bed was too soft, but this is just my preference. The walls and ceilings in the room must be very thin or offer poor insulation against sound. I could hear pretty much every movement in the room above me and the rooms next door - maybe I just had noisy neighbours. The hotel rate I paid was inclusive of dinner - which is a very limited buffet and was really nothing special. I much prefer to choose what I want to eat from a menu or make the decision to eat away from the hotel. I also prefer to charge my drinks to my room and settle the bill on check out, but I was told this wasn't possible. Overall, it's nice to stay in a new hotel, everything smells new and fresh and is clean, but the noise from other rooms and the lack of meal choice mean I'd probably choose to stay in the city centre for future visits.
