Nizwa Heritage Inn in Nizwa

I'm not sure why reviews of this place are so low. We stayed for a single night a few months ago and found it perfectly serviceable. Certainly for the cost, its a great option.

Getting There: Your GPS will try to route you through an undrivable path. Instead, drive up towards the mosque/fort square and turn left—this will take you directly to the property. Avoid going left around the souq, as you'll get stuck in a maze of narrow streets.

Check-in & Rooms: Check-in was smooth, and the rooms were very clean. Note that the windows don't have glass, so you'll need to choose between closed windows (no natural light) or open windows (no AC). This wasn't a major issue for us since the AC worked well, and we could keep the windows open at night.

Accommodations: We stayed in one of the guesthouses about a 10-minute walk from check-in. It was very secure with multiple locks and had a modern elevator.

One Caution: A guest accidentally engaged an ornamental wooden lock on the guesthouse door around 10 PM, locking everyone out. It took 30 minutes for staff to find a local kid to bang on windows and wake the guest to unlock it before backign the guest down who then tried to fight him with his fists. The staff screwed the lock in place afterward, but check if your room has one of these—it could create a difficult situation.

The Rest: Breakfast was plentiful but mediocre (could easily be improved). The location couldn't be better. Showers, bathrooms, and beds were all comfortable and clean.

I would happily stay there again

Nice hotel, probably the biggest in city centre. We stay 3 nights and evenings are owesome. People walking around and a lot of things to eat. They have parking space. But there is NO pool. Even on some google map pictures is

I met Asaad at the reception, a wonderful personality, who gave us a good hospitality experience. He guided us on all the tourist spots across Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar. He and his team were very kind and accommodated us well. The rooms were neat, clean and gave an authentic city vibe. Would recommend definitely!

A truly memorable stay — highly recommended!

This hotel beautifully captures the spirit of old Oman, with its traditional architecture and serene atmosphere. From the moment my husband and I arrived, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making us feel genuinely welcome.

If you have time, we strongly recommend a day trip to Jabal Akhdar (Nizwa is quite small and can be discovered in 1-2 days) — it’s an unforgettable experience. Just ask at reception for Mr. Abdallah, and they’ll connect you with a local guide. The tour is absolutely worth it.

Our 6–7 hour journey through the mountains and abandoned villages (by car and by foot) was led by Abdelhakim, Mr. Abdallah’s nephew. He’s originally from the area, and his deep knowledge, professionalism, and warm personality made the day both enriching and fun. We learned so much and laughed a lot — a perfect blend of nature, culture, and connection.

Heritage village it is. The surrounding gives the vibes of archaeological site. Roads are narrow and challenging but woth the experience. Rooms were well managed and well equipped. Breakfast was very good and u have a selection from American breakfast and Arabic breakfast. Staff was nice and communicative. Recommend for whoever looking to escape to the heritage era🙂

Cute little inn in traditional style, situated right next to the fort and the souq. The rooms are clean and spacious in renovated traditional omani style.
The reception staff was extremely nice and welcoming. They prepared a very early take away breakfast for us upon a short notice.

Absolute vibrant, authentic, beautiful and comfortable experience. Loved it and very welcoming and helpful. Thank you NHI. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Only improvement: please get cleaner to be better with the toilets and bin. Everything else is clean and good. :-)
