Target Hostel in Zakopane

YES, this hostel has bad reviews: all patrons share one toilet, and one shower, because the other ones are either broken or too small.
BUT, location is great. You can check in whenever. There's no checkout. AND Very few people stay here, so the fridge was empty, the rooms empty, and the I could play 240 px YouTube. P.S. don't stay here during peak season. There's no reception.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hostel. The beds were extremely squeaky, the taps in the bathroom were broken, and even the toilet flush buttons did not work. We didn’t receive bed linen upon arrival, which was very inconvenient. The sofa in the lobby was dirty, and the overall atmosphere was damp and unpleasant. Unfortunately, this poor level of service spoiled the impression of my visit to Zakopane.

Truly disgusting. Not worth the relatively low price for the area. We left after one night due to extremely strong mold in the air. Dorm and bathroom doors are so warped and broken that they do not close/lock properly. No reception and no security. Clearly not cleaned or maintained in any way — see overflowing trash cans in kitchen. Even the decorative flowers in the common area are growing mold. We also did not receive the breakfast we paid for. Do not stay here!!

We are very unsatisfied with our stay in the Target Hostel. We booked a private room for 2 people with a separate bathroom for us. When we arrived, the floor of the shower wasn't clean. There was dirt and hairs, probably from previous guests. While taking a shower, the water drained only very slowly. We had to stop during the shower and wait for a long time to not flood the bathroom. We cleaned the drain of the shower with our own hands and pulled hairs and dirt out of it. After this, it worked better. The shutter of one of the two windows was broken from the wall. It was just lying next to the window on our arrival. There was a parking lot right outside the window, people were coming and going. As the shutter was broken, we didn't have any privacy in our room. People could look into our room the whole day and night. The toilet was a bit leaky, there was constantly coming a certain amount of water out from below. The water ran through the bathroom into the normal room and gathered there. Every day when we came back from hiking, there was a little puddle in our room, which we had to clean up. The room lay somewhere between ground and basement floor. The air felt very humid to us. Our clothes in the room were constantly damp. Furthermore, we could also see dark spots on some parts of the wall, which seemed like mould to us. We also felt a certain smell in the room which we didn't like. Another big problem with the hostel was communication. When we arrived and wanted to check in, nobody from the staff was there. There was a sign with a number we should call. We tried it several times, but nobody answered. After one hour of waiting in the lobby, we got an SMS with our room number, but no further instructions. The room was locked. There were several keys on the reception desk, but we didn't know which one was ours, and we didn't know if we were even allowed to take it. After 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting, we finally got a call from the staff, and they advised us to take the key. We weren't told before that it was a self check-in. We complained about the mentioned aspects. Up to this day, we haven't received a written answer. The only thing was, that on the second day after we sent the message, a member of the staff and two workmen came into our room for like 3 minutes. At this point, the shower and its drain have already been cleaned by ourselves, as we didn't expect anyone anymore after two days of the complaint. The other issues weren't resolved at all. Because of the many problems with the room and the bad communication with the hostel staff, we can't recommend it at all. We often book rooms in cheaper hostels, but this is the first time we are so disappointed with it, that we have to write a negative review. For us, the only positive thing we can mention, is the central position in the city.
