I had a very disappointing experience staying at this hostel. Cleanliness was a major issue, especially in the washroom where there were cockroaches. Basic things like towels were not provided, which made the stay even more uncomfortable.

The room environment was also difficult. Some guests stayed up all night talking loudly on the phone and frequently banging the door, so it was almost impossible to get proper rest. I was assigned an upper bunk bed, which was unstable and made noise even with small movements, disturbing sleep further.

Another thing to be aware of: guests are placed on upper bunk beds by default, and if you want to move to a lower bed, it is a rule that you must pay an additional $15.

Overall, I would not recommend this hostel, especially if you value cleanliness, comfort, and a quiet place to sleep.

I stayed at this hotel during my recent trip. The room and general facilities were decent, and the staff were polite.
However, I had an unfortunate experience where my expensive camera stand went missing during my stay. I informed the hotel, but unfortunately nothing could be done to locate it. This was very disappointing.
While my stay was otherwise okay, this situation left a negative impression. I would advise future guests to be very careful with their valuables.😒

The location is nice, is close to every part of Singapore. Then, the problem are the amenities, and also it depends on the people you have in your room. But the rest is okay.

If they really want to do business they should do better , 12 guest sharing one toilet in a room , imagine U have to queue for several minutes just to use the washroom

What bothered me was that the mattresses aren't real mattresses with fabric covers, as is usual, but are made of a dirty, wipeable material. This makes the mattress uncomfortable and the sheet constantly slides off. When you shower, the whole bathroom/toilet gets flooded and there's no squeegee. On the positive side, the rooms seem clean. At least they are cleaned. You're not allowed to wear outdoor shoes inside the room. You're asked to put your shoes on a shelf in the hallway outside, where there's also a hairdryer. The internet mentioned breakfast like cornflakes and toast, but I didn't see any. I didn't ask though. The staff are very nice and helpful. Someone spontaneously carried my suitcase up for me. Towels were also provided, and two pillows. I would prefer two blankets, as these are very thin. They're not really proper duvets, more like what you get on an airplane. You can't look at the ceiling fan in the room, it's covered in dust. Luckily, I didn't see any pests during my two nights in this hostel, but outside, after midnight when the shops close and there's hardly any traffic, that's when all the local nocturnal animals appear: mice, rats, and large cockroaches. If the mattresses were replaced, I would come back.

On a side note, I was at the Campbell Inn before this. It seemed like they didn't clean at all there. I didn't shower there either. I actually saw a mouse under the bed there. So, out of all three hostels I stayed at, I found the Fortune to be the best. Especially the bed was super comfortable and super clean! Highly recommend!

I accidentally booked the wrong date and the staff was so accommodating with helping me fix it. Would’ve booked more days but they were booked up — definitely understand why. Fully recommend!

Didn't read previous guide posting. Ok disappointed. No more tapas bar. New management. The staff said after new year will do renovation. Well..will see how next year

The (downstairs) restaurant is closed / being renovated.... However, the upstairs rooftop bar (using the menu from downstairs) is open.
Not worth it, it was empty on a Saturday night. We only had drinks (and the accompanying free tapas which really weren't that great).
Will have to return when the restaurant/bar downstairs reopens.

Was on the lookout for paella and found Zsofi - does a pretty decent plate of paella. The rooftop dining/bar area is also a great place to hang out in the cool of evening.

This places lives up to the hype. All the food looked great and tasted great. Sole reason I went there was the masala chicken - perfectly spiced and tasted amazing. Chicken just fell of the bones and wasn’t dry at all. Curry was great too. Quantity is good for 2. Takes about 15 mins to arrive after ordering even though when we ordered the place was packed.

I usually go to Banana Leaf Apollo (with a single l) to satisfy my craving for spicy chicken masala. You get the cabbage and bean side dish with white rice for just indeedbut$4. Add the spicy chicken mix to the white rice and it's a satisfying meal. All under $11 !

Have not been to Banana leaf Apolo for few years. Used to be good, but not now. Went yesterday to try my favourite indian fish head curry. Utterly disappointed. The fish meat is not fresh - hard and stiff. Curry is good, but if fish head is not fresh the whole dish sucks. Standard of this restaurant dropped alot. Time to move on to search for other good fish head curry, never will visit Banana Leaf Apolo again.

Was shocked to know that a small bowl of take away pepper prawn, with only 8 small ( the size of a toddler's thumb), cost me a whooping $16!!!! I'm utterly shocked to know that. I re-confirmed with the staff there and they said yes. It's $16!!! Since I had already promised my niece, I just bought it n left. I could buy 1 kg of prawn at Giant supermarket for $16!!! 8 small pieces which translates to $2/piece is atrocious. And after tasting it, there was no pepper taste, just sweet. Nothing amazing there.

Just returned from my first visit to this restaurant. It was very busy with both Asian and foreign diners which is always a good sign. Generally the food and service were fine but very disappointingly my Chicken Tika Marsala tasted of nothing but garlic. Two strong cups of coffee later and all I can still taste is garlic.

Good place with spacious seating. Great Indian food, had the vegetarian rice set, able to sample alot of dishes and see which ones I like. The rice itself was good. Had the ginger tea with the meal, good for complimenting the meal.
