Here is why i would recommend you to Stay away:
Summary: Decent location, disgusting staircase, acceptable cleanliness, horrible atmosphere. Don’t expect more than three hours of sleep. No curtains between the beds/ no privacy. Only three showers and three toilets — and one of them is always out of order. As other reviews have mentioned, this place is not for backpackers. Poor gender balance too, since it seems like there’s a group of men who live here permanently…??
Is it kinda cheap, but this hostel is just over its prime time. In the reception there is many rewards of how great this hostel was, but its all from 2012/2012 and it seems like they have given up on it since then. The atmosphere is the worst. We had to tell a girl to shut off the light at 06:00 in the morning. She kept it on til 07:00 since she didnt manage to pack the day before. Instead of taking all her stuff outside the room and packing in the living room, she turned on the lights and opened the door and packed in our room. This waked the entire room. This one time thing wouldnt be a dealbreaker for me alone. But it perfectly shows how little respect the people in the hostel had for each other. Every Night was the same, lights flicked on at random times, doors bring left opened for long time (light from the living room lighted up the entire room). Writing more is not worth of my time, i think you Get the idéa. If you Are backpacker/need some sleep/want a good atmosphere. Stay away, if any of these problems dont seem to bother you. Go ahead and book it, it is quite cheap for Singapore.

I had a disappointing experience at River City Hotel, Singapore.
Due to a late arrival, I checked in a bit late, which was already a loss for me. However, the hotel staff forcefully charged me an additional USD 8, even though this was not clearly mentioned in the booking terms. This felt unfair and unprofessional.
More concerning was the environment inside the hotel. I noticed that the hotel owner’s son and daughter were sleeping together on a seat next to the guest area, which looked very inappropriate and made the atmosphere uncomfortable. This is not something guests expect to see in a hospitality setting.
Overall, the hotel lacks professionalism, proper guest handling, and a comfortable environment. I would advise management to improve staff behavior, transparency in charges, and overall guest experience.

We are a group of four travelling from Manila booked a private room with shared facilities. Check in and out was easy, shared facilities were kept clean, and people were overall friendly. Highly recommend for a hostel. If you're looking for a "hotel" your in a wrong place😜. Its just old minus one star.

I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights, and as a budget option, it delivers exactly what you pay for—basic but functional.

Things to keep in mind:

Check-in: Timings are quite strict—8 AM to 12 PM, then 4 PM to 8 PM. There’s no staff between 12 noon and 4 PM. Late check-ins after 8 PM are possible but cost $8 per person, and you’ll need to inform them in advance (responses can take a while).

Cleanliness & Facilities: Rooms are decent, and staff member Neisa does her best to keep things tidy. Washrooms are okay, though they could be maintained better—an automatic flush is a nice touch. The property is on the 4th floor with no lift, so carrying heavy luggage can be a challenge. Air conditioning in dorms runs only from 9 PM to 9 AM.
20$ refundable deposit

Location: Excellent—walking distance to Clarke Quay, Chinatown, Little India, and Fort Canning Park.

Vibe: Ideal for solo travellers or backpackers who just need a place to sleep at night and plan to be out exploring all day. If you’re after a livelier hostel atmosphere or more comfort, you might want to check out the Ibis Budget Hotel next door or other hostels in the area.

Summary: A decent hostel for the price paid.

We ( a couple) stayed in the 14-bed dorm and, unfortunately, it wasn’t the most comfortable experience. While the hostel itself was clean on the surface, it didn’t feel particularly hygienic.
There was a general lack of respect for shared space and basic etiquette. Most people wouldn’t say hello or smile back which made the environment feel isolating.
People also had phone calls on loud speaker during the night?! Every day and night there was a man sleeping on the sofa which made it feel there was no place to socialise and relax.
As a woman, I didn’t feel comfortable or able to relax, the showers and toilets were mixed and very small to change. The dorms and communal areas were male dominated (not the hostel’s fault but something to bear in mind when booking!).

Overall I wouldn’t stay here again, but if you’re looking for somewhere basic and central I would recommend

Undoubtedly a very clean hostel as they have placed utmost attention on cleanliness (no footwear allowed anywhere, multiple times cleaning). The location is also is very good - centrally located and can be accessed via train or bus. Do make a note that if you’re checking-in late, do not book this one as they charge a good amount of fee for the same. Also, it may so happen that you may not find anyone at the reception for hours. Rest all was good!

Riverwalk Tandoor is one of my highly recommended restaurants for both locals as well as tourists because : It serves authentic indian cuisine with great service, it is conveniently located just a stone's throw away from clark quay mrt, It is situated in one of singapore's most iconic locations along the singapore river, & is affordably priced even though its situated right in the heart of the city. The restaurant has been at this location for 19 long years and in Sept 2017, it went through a major revamp in design, space layout, furniture, buffet presentation style and of course a new menu too. . The revamped restaurant is now better positioned to cater to both singaporeans and tourists alike, with a well stocked bar facing the river, an al fresco area which is great for block booking or corporate events, and of course the air conditioned interior with its island shaped buffet . Kudos to the management team for breathing new life into the restaurant ….this will be my go to place to chill

Aunty tried to sell us dishes(the obviously most expensive dish on the menu) that we already said we didn't want to have, she kept insisting even though we had in mind what we wanted to order. Food was crappy, not worth paying for. The 1 star was more towards the service, if I could, i would have given an even lower.

Dishes actually tastes ok, similar quality as JUMBO. Both very expensive. Not good value considering the portions and price, but okay for tourists to satisfy their crave for pepper crabs once in a while.

It's just Ok, had both pepper and chili crabs. Using dungeness crabs?! Food lacks wow factor.

Tourist-packed waterfront restaurant that delivers quality food but with steep price.

It was our first time in Singapore and Jumbo seemed like a big name for Chilli crab so we've made a booking for a weekday night. The place did not disappoint, although I wouldn't return.

The chilli crab was delicious although a bit on the sweet side to my taste. The crab was big and there were plenty of flesh to dig out and enjoy. We also had cereal prawn and fried rice. The prawn was wonderfully buttery and crunchy. Fried rice was fairly mediocre. Portions were quite large. We were very full and happy with food.

The biggest irritation I had was they only give you 75 minutes from sitting down til emptying your table. We felt quite rushed to finish our dish especially when their service wasn't particularly fast. If you want to have dining experience for the evening then look elsewhere.

We read about how they charge extra for things seemingly trivial like peanuts and tissues so we refused when they've offered.

Great location along the quay. Very high-end in both service and quality of food. Excellent chili crab and black pepper crab. Tofu with seaweed was best I've had. It has both inside air conditioned seating as well as the more popular quay-side tables. Reservations recommended. If you're not on a budget, this is a very good option.

Fantastic chilli crab. The best sauce in my opinion. Use the little dough breads to soak up the sauce. Yummy! Yeah, a bit expensive but worth it. Busy place so best to book. Next to the canal, its nice to sit outside.

The food here was pretty good. I stopped by at night before closing so the staff were in shutdown mode and service was a bit slack. I was seated outside near the plants and a small rat kept running around, pretty off putting to say the least. I mentioned the rat while I was paying but they didnt seem to process what I was saying. They might need to contact pest controll for the area with the plants.

For me the service was quite good-maybe because we came in two big groups?
Fantastic buns and deer food. But I didn't enjoy the chili crab as much as I had expected--it was too sweet for my taste buds. But people I was with seemed to enjoy it. My Singaporean friend said they had the best chili crab so try it out here if you are in Singapore to see if such dish is for you or not :)
