A very good experience!
The hotel staff is just crazy nice. We arrived there in the early morning and they let us leave the luggage in the hotel before checking in, gave us hot tea to warm up and offered porridge. Throughout the whole stay they were super polite and helpful and they also partly spoke English, which was nice.
The hotel rooms are good, very clean and spacious, with high ceilings and big windows. The only small problem we had with the room was the toilet, which was not so good at flushing. The hotel staff told us about it beforehand, they said it's because the house is old. Additionally, the shower gel and shampoo offered at the hotel were not so good, the shampoo wouldn't soap enough (which I guess is not that much of a problem for people with short hair, but my hair is quite long). Would be nice if the shampoo&shower gel would not be disposable, but rather be reusable like the hand soap they had.
The hotel offers a washing machine service (costs 100roubles/1.3eur per time) and they can hang the clothes to dry for you, that was nice.
The location of the hotel is good. It's in an old part of the city, so the buildings around are quite pretty and there are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the district. There are two metro stations nearby, and the central street of the city is in a walking distance (10-15mins).
Overall, our stay at Tanais was very good, definitely worth the money, and we would come back again!

We stayed at the Tanais hotel in September 2021, and a surprise awaited us upon arrival - instead of the booked room, we were provided with a more comfortable two-room suite at no extra charge. Great room: clean, comfortable, beautiful view from the window. The room has a huge bed, a sofa, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a kettle, dishes, a coffee table, a large dining room, there is a bar, in each room there is a TV. A nice bonus is free tea and coffee. The hotel staff are kind, polite, pleasant girls who make every effort to create a comfortable stay for all residents. Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to the whole team! We wish you health, happiness, well-being and prosperity to your hotel! Thank you for everything! We hope that we also left pleasant memories of ourselves - three sisters from the distant seaside city of Vladivostok.

Quite modestly, neat and decent. Price-performance ratio is fully consistent. The staff is polite and helpful.

Very nice cozy hotel with a homely atmosphere, helpful staff, clean rooms. Good location close to the center and Moscow train station.
