Location
Villa Vanilla is situated in Port Glaud on the island of Mahe in Seychelles, approximately 430 meters from Port Glaud beach. The Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) is about 10 kilometers to the southeast. The hotel is set on a steep hill, offering panoramic views of surrounding mountains and jungle vegetation. Reviews
Elegant architectural design now sadly in need of maintenance- broken plumbing, locks, things to injure yourself on - pay attention.
Dysfunctional food situation- they provide breakfast but clearly don't expect you to stay longer than one night. No cooking facilities. Only one V expensive restaurant open far down on the coast. We drove 10km each direction. Don't underestimate the climb - car will get a workout, Heros to walk in the heat.
Internet connection intermittent.
The Beach is close and I enjoyed the quiet green Oase with super clean Swimmingpool and the views all around. Your Place is even nicer in reality as on Photos. All Guests where friendly and happy to stay here, too. The breakfast was easy but a very good choice - I would not change it :) fresh juice & eggs very good! Thank you again, I will highly recommend.
This villa is now named Waterfall Villa. I'm putting review under both names.
We got robbed at night on our first night while we were sleeping. We had room 4 but I just read that we are not the first one being robbed there. The doors don't lock properly. The security cameras are just for decoration. There is no security guard. I reported the theft at 6.20am when I woke up. Reception guy said to wait manager until 12pm. He didn't look surprised about the theft. But he looked surprised that the thief took bank card and ids. Manager reimbursed us in euros for our stay. We asked her to reimburse in the currency she charged us (SCR), as it is more than the money she refunded, she didn't even entertained this idea. She asked us to tell Booking that we didnt show up, so she wont get charged fees. But if we do this, we cannot leave a review on booking. We went to the police station, and they told us we are between the 15th to the 20th victim from this accommodation.
The place in itself is actually pretty. We had a nice room overlooking the greens. But I would not trade safety for this. I do not recommend this accommodation at all. My friend is still shaking at the idea of someone entering our room while we are sleeping (we changed hotel).
Recommend!
The "Villa" is high located, indeed better to get a rental car to reach it or walk and sweat ( but that's the price to get such a nice view). The swimming pool area ( with an outdoor shower) and garden are nice, clean and relaxing.
Possible to park at anytime under the porch or down the building at anytime.
Maybe the vegetation around the building would deserve a bit of a trim to keep the sea view.
The building itself is in good condition and beautiful.
Maybe refreshing the furniture and a bit more maintenance of the wooden structure of the entire building will make the place perfect.
Our room was lovely, well prepared and spacious.
Our large balcony allowed us to face the "mountains" and jungle which was as interesting as facing the sea. Again If i want to be picky I'll advised to make sure all the lights are working or fixed on a regular basis.
The service was impeccable. The people there were nice, welcoming, helpful and even did some extras out of kindness ( like sewing job in my case😊).
The room was consciously cleaned every day.
The breakfast was good and decent ( a full plate of different fruits, a few toast with butter and marnelade, eggs/omelet, sausage and sometimes pancakes or porridge. Plus choice in between tea or coffee).
I recommend.
Cons - you get nothing as complimentary. Not even a bottle of water. No bar soaps, body wash nothing. Bed was not that comfortable but yea it was manageable. Service from staff is not that great. But they were not rude at all as you read in the other comments.
Keep in mind you don’t pay hefty amount of money for the room, so expect the service for what you pay for.
Also make sure you have rent a car to reach this property, without it, it’s impossible for you transport yourself from the hotel to other places.
On the downside it gave the impression that the place is not maintained good enough. Small damages not repaired (broken hinge, tap loose, pool a bit dirty). This could be caused by to few customers during corona, but still a pity to see.
Still I would absolutely recommend the place! One thing is that because it's on a steep hill and there are not many places to eat nearby, it's best if you have a rental car.
It's true that it's not perfect, but if someone wants a hotel then please look for one with stars and not a Bed & Breakfast. On the other hand, if someone wants to experience nature and commune with this beautiful view, there is probably no better place on the whole island.
The views are breathtaking! You can get mesmerized and sit like that for hours. It is true that the wifi does not work in the room, breakfast is what it is and the beds by the pool are uncomfortable. There is a pool, views and peace and quiet.
The staff was nice to us because we were nice, and the fact that without a car I would not even try to get here. P.S take a shower gel and appreciate how lucky you are to be here.
We were really happy with this accommodation!! It was truly a gorgeous Mountain retreat! The Place looks just awesome and the staff is really nice! It’s quite far up so I advice to rent a car! The owner can organise you a car renter!
After our arrival she(the owner) also drove us to a restaurant because we had no car at this point. She even drove us around and showed us the area! Really nice!
4.5 stars and not 5 just because of the breakfast! The bread was sometimes hard, the coffee not soo good but also not bad! However the fruits were really nice!
There is also a waterfall very close to the hotel, which you can reach by foot! Also really really nice!
If you love nature and a nice view —> stay there
We can really recommend it ☺️
