My first time in Bratislava, where I picked this hotel randomly and boy! Marrol's sure didn't disappoint :) Certainly one of the loveliest property I have stayed in - in the boutique category of hotels.

- Excellent location - everything is stones throw - all tourist attractions. Even for places a bit far out, Uber is available within minutes.

- Room itself is super cute. Clean, comfortable, almost home like. Bathroom is well equipped - plenty of linen and L'occitane toiletries provided.

- Whether it is the housekeeping team, the receptionist or the overall staff team - they greet warmly, with a smile - every single day. My queries have been answered promptly, solutions have been provided (I have had to extend a few hours of stay because of flight delay). Spot on service there - 5 stars.

- The food! Saving the best for the last. I ordered room service every single night. The taste and quality is SO GOOD - it's almost a challenge to want to go out and dine. Must try pierogi dessert - I've had them 3 nights in a row now!

Writing this review on my 4th night of stay and honestly I would be leaving tomorrow from here - most unwillingly! If looking for reviews as a deciding factor to book Marrols - take my word - you wont be disappointed :)

We are in love with this hotel. Kind and helpfull staff. Great location. Cosy and stylish lobby. Comfortable rooms and facilities. The restaurant is on a top level. Location is great - close both to the old town and the river.

Let’s get one thing straight. Hotel Marrol's is a nice hotel. Clean rooms? Absolutely. Neat, polished, no nonsense. Good neighborhood? Yes. quiet, safe, perfectly fine to come home to after a long day. On that front, no shouting required.
But five stars? Don’t be ridiculous.
You arrive with luggage and… no bellman. Not even a whiff of urgency. Check-in moves at the speed of cold porridge, painfully slow, borderline absent, as if time itself has gone on holiday. Service overall feels like it’s been told to relax a bit too much. You’re not asking for silver service, just some awareness that guests exist.
And breakfast, this is where I sigh deeply. It’s fine. Perfectly edible. But it’s Holiday Inn fine. Average buffet, predictable, safe, uninspired. Nothing here says “luxury hotel,” let alone “five-star experience.” It says: grab a croissant and move on.
So here’s the verdict:
Five stars are a long way off. A very long way.
But—if what you want is a clean, tidy, well-located hotel with zero expectations, this place does the job. No drama, no delight. Just sleep, shower, repeat.

The negative comments are true. I didn’t have very high expectations but did have some given that this is supposedly a 5 star hotel. Service was non-existent.
From when we arrived to check in, the staff was pretty cold. We were told we had an upgrade from the Classic room we booked to a Premium room. This was room 304. Then was essentially just told the breakfast hours and that was about it. Even the slightest question seemed to be an annoyance. No explanation of any amenities, no bellman to help us or anything. No offer of a map of the city or suggestion of things to do.
Our room was simple and not very clean. There was some hair clippings on the bed and in the bathroom and shower. Bath towel had stains on it. There was a plaque that indicated their tap water is safe to drink, but always had a brown tint to it. Thermostat wouldn’t go lower than 22 degrees Celsius so we had to leave the window open, in the middle of January, to cool the room down. We were facing the street so there was a lot of noise, even with windows shut. The bed was so uncomfortable, felt like a thin mattress on top of a wood plank. WiFi was horrendously slow.
Breakfast was very basic, no one ever greeted us. Tables weren’t cleaned between guests so each time we sat there were crumbs from previous guests.
Spa is not included, €90 for 2 hrs which is pretty steep. Overall would not recommend and would not stay here again. Comparable to a Holiday Inn Express.

One of my favorite hotel stays. Perfect location just outside the old city. Old-world elegance without stuffiness. The room was lovely, the breakfast lavish, and the staff kind and helpful. Our stay just after New Year's was the highlight of our trip to Bratislava. Highly recommended!

Lovely hotel with cosy character. Our room was large enough for 2, clean and enjoyed facilities such as a kettle and Nespresso machine, a safe and a stocked minibar with complimentary drinks. We didn't use the spa or terrace, but we did use the restaurant for breakfast, which had plenty of choice. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
