We stayed at the hotel for four nights with our family and our dog, and went home with quite mixed impressions. For ski resort users, the hotel has an excellent location—the slopes are just across the road, and free parking is available for guests. The reception staff are also friendly—but that’s where the list of positive impressions ends. The hotel was apparently built in 1974 and, visually, hasn’t changed much since then. The guest experience is probably much the same as it was over 50 years ago, because due to the exterior (and interior) of the accommodation, guests get the feeling they are competing in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. The architectural design strongly resembles accommodation facilities from that era on Jahorina or Bjelašnica. Alongside the archaic part, the complex also includes a newer section built in 2002, which likewise hasn’t changed significantly since then. Despite all this, the hotel is excellently integrated into the Gorenjska tourist area. Like many other attractions in Kranjska Gora, Bohinj, and Bled, it operates on the principle of “charge premium prices, but invest nothing into the experience.” They have successfully followed this guideline for over fifty years—and honestly, it works very well for them. The first peculiarity is the ski lockers located in the basement. Apparently, they are considered quite an exclusive service, since only one locker is provided per room, and it can hold just two pairs of skis and two pairs of ski boots. Luckily, no one in the hotel snowboards, because it’s impossible to fit two snowboards into the narrow ski slot. That said, additional complaining at reception did result in being granted a second locker, albeit with the receptionist doing so very reluctantly. We paid an extra €15 per night for the dog, which is quite a reasonable amount. The notice in the house rules stating that “the owner is responsible for any damage caused by the pet in the room and must pay for it” also seems perfectly appropriate at first glance. However, it takes on a whole new dimension when you enter a room with your pet that, judging by its appearance and condition, hasn’t been renovated since 2002. The depreciation value of the furnishings in such a room is practically zero, and even if my pet were a bark beetle, it couldn’t realistically cause any actual damage to the hotel. The room’s appearance truly does not justify the hotel’s four-star rating—it leans much more toward an average three-star standard. That doesn’t stop the hotel management from charging extra for everything. Despite having a pool located in the newer part of the complex, guests are not entitled to wellness towels. These must be rented at the pool reception for €3 per towel, and they must be returned by the end of the day to a designated basket. Even though this cost can easily rise to €10 per day for a small family, the staff justify it with the cost of laundry. Why guests are not allowed to take the towels to their rooms and use

Our time here was excellent! The hotel looked really nice and the outside view was incredible. The personal was so kind and responsive. I liked the most the cleanliness, which was impeccable, and the very delicious food. The room offered everything we neded + confort. I also liked the silence. I would come back anytime!

Nice big rooms. Bathroom was extra special with a bath & shower. The atmosphere in the Restaurant plus the view from my dinning table was amazing. I had a view of the ski slopes from my balcony. Included in the price , use of the pool and spa. So convenient. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was top notch, lots of variety. Can’t fault them. Thank you

Hotel Kompas in Kranjska Gora is an excellent choice for an Alpine getaway. The location is perfect — close to the ski slopes, the town center, and beautiful mountain trails. The rooms are clean and comfortable, many with stunning mountain views. The staff is friendly, professional, and always helpful. The spa and swimming pool are a great highlight, perfect for relaxing after an active day. The food is tasty and varied. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and peaceful stay in nature.

Very nice staff, amazing location. During a longer stay (9 nights) - poor food, no idea, breakfast still the same, at the level of 1-2 stars. Unfortunately built on short-term bus tours, noise, chaos, queues in the dining room. undignified. We were disappointed. Supervision in the wellness center always on the phone, due to which there was noise, babies in the jacuzzi, people did whatever they wanted, including a noisy tour of teenagers. Ruined stay. It had nothing to do with relaxation and Christmas peace.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a balcony and a good view. Breakfasts and dinners are also generally OK with plenty of choice. Unfortunately, despite the large number of children, there are no pancakes in the morning and no pasta in the evening, which children love. And swiming pool: openenig hours should be at least until 21 pm.

Room was spacious and clean. The hotel itself is very well located for both the ski slopes but also close to the centre.

We liked it very much, we stayed only for one nihgt but.. rooms and atsmophere is very nice and the best thing is that our dogs were welcome :).. also we liked the dinner and breakfast offer, it was very delicious and i could find a lot of vegetarian options. One of azaming things is that from our room we had a view to mountains and they were also visible from indoor pool, so this was very relaxing.

We spent 9 nights at this hotel staying whilst taking part and volunteering at JAT UTMB. our room had a lovely view of the mountains and all staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast options every morning were fantastic and set us up for the day, cleanliness was excellent throughout the hotel.

It was a shame that there was no kettle in the room and no hot chocolate option from the bar because it wasn't winter.

Otherwise the facilities were good but the jacuzzi definitely wasn't as warm as it was listed as being on the wall.

It is clear that the room we stayed in is due an upgrade no particular issues but the decor and finish was just a bit tired.

Would definitely stay here again next time we are passing through the area.
