This was our first time staying at Insotel ClubMaryland so we didn’t know what to expect from the mixed reviews we had read. But we came home after a week here having had a lovely time. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived so we went to the relaxing pool bar and had some lunch. By this time the buffet lunch had closed but there was a menu for other snacks such as toasted sandwiches and pizzas. Soft drinks were help yourself and the barman would get alcohol or hot drinks. Once our room was ready we changed and made our way to the main salt water pool which was closer to our block (we were in 300s). It was mid afternoon now and we had to wait a while for a lounger to become available. There was music playing and activities happening in the pool. We also had a quick stroll on the beach. Our children (ages 10 and 6) preferred the look of the splash pool so we went here the next day and it was far quieter, and loungers were available nearly all day. It was a lovely pool and the children soon made friends with other children, so we spent most of our time here. Our room was comfortable, and very clean. We were slightly concerned about the lack of air con considering the temperatures reached 36 degrees during our stay, but we were only in the room to get ready for dinner and to sleep, the ceiling fans mostly sufficed. The one in the lounge wasn’t quite as good so we made use of a small folding fan we brought with us. Beds were comfortable. No configuration for a double for me and my husband. Bathroom was spotlessly clean, shower good. The room also had a fridge. We made use of the onsite supermarket to buy large bottles of water to keep in the fridge. Again, we had read in reviews that these bottles of water were in short supply if you went later than opening time but my husband first visited the shop just before its 8pm closing time and still managed a pack of 6 large bottles. The restaurant was busy, but we always managed to get a table outside on the terrace with not too long a wait. There was always a large selection of food at breakfast - both cooked and continental and fresh fruit. At evening dinner again a good selection of meals - pasta dishes, pizza and salad bar that remained largely unchanged each evening, and then a selection of dishes, either Mexican, Asian etc with many vegetarian options. A good selection of puddings also, although these seemed to run out more than anything else. The meat and fish being cooked fresh in the restaurant were always very popular and often had large queues. The buffet at the pool for lunchtime again had some dishes that were there all the time, such as burgers and pasta, and other things that would be alternated, like sausages and chicken nuggets. Again, salad bar, fresh fruit and bread rolls were available. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit the island. It’s a great base with car hire right outside. A very comfortable hotel with great pools for relaxing in the Spanish su

Just returned from a week here with my family. It's definitely a beautiful little place with a lot to offer potentially but a few things were not great. The accommodation is extremely basic. No air con Very outdated accommodation although really clean, the sofa beds in lounge were not made up and no sheets were provided to had to take some sheets off main bed for my kids.. Was 30+ degrees when we were there and air con was definitely missed. Food is very repetitive and the main restaurant all food we had was cold or barely lukewarm. I have a child with Autism and there was nothing for him. Wasps. The self serve drinks machines at the pools were invaded by wasps. They actually go up inside the spout so if you are brave enough to pour yourself a drink a wasp often came out into your drink The kids were terrified and I ended up getting all drinks for them. No one seemed to think this was an issue. However. This was a really cheap holiday. Especially in peak summer season so we accepted that you get what you pay for. The main pool near the beach is awesome and the beach itself is so beautiful. We were in number 120 and an average day involved 20k steps to walk to the main pool and to the main restaurant for meals which was hard going on the kids in the heat. The splash park was very near to us though and there were plenty slides to entertain and they do lunch there too and we never had any problems getting sunbeds, the main pool though was a different story , you need to be up early to get beds there. Entertainment was great the team work hard. The staff in general were all really attentive and hard working, the guy that does the food at the splash park was an absolute gem, give him a smile and a thank you as he really appreciated it. We would go again if they updated the rooms and added aircon

The trip was amazing in my opinion at least, the entertainers were engaging, bar, bartenders and buffet was amazing polite and waiters were friendly. I would 100% recommend Insotel club Maryland to anybody I know the daily entertainment is always a joy to watch even if it’s bad you’ll be guaranteed to have a laugh. Guests are also quite friendly too personally i made some friends i will take back home with me and met some special “people”. All in all i think Maryland deserves a higher rating than its give and i would love to go back again.

Had a great holiday here with my grown up daughter. We were a bit suspicious about the 3 star rating as we normally book 4/5 star. Apart from the room being a bit basic with no A/C, the rest of the hotel was pretty much what you expect from a 4/5 star hotel. The room was cleaned and towels replaced daily. The choice and quality of food at all the meal times was as good as what we’ve experienced at 4/5 star hotels. The staff were all friendly and helpful. My daughter was very impressed with the choice and quality of the All Inclusive drinks on offer at the bars.

No AC in accommodation but otherwise a lovely place, food excellent, staff great, wonderful situation (if you don’t have mobility issues) recommend. The two pool areas were great, at opposite ends of the hotel and quite different. Loved the top pool which was quiet and plenty of shade from pine trees. Main pool huge and deep with lots going on! It was too hot for us to do much so didn’t cycle but the hotel and the forest and the beach were a beautiful and relaxed setting.

I've read other reviews and I'm absolutely puzzled as to what a poor holiday we are having. Firstly the good points. The island itself is beautiful. The pool to beach location is great. Splashpark is good for younger kids. That's it.. The food is .. on the main restaurant passable, we are finding something everyday but the experience is awful, just a scramble and things ar not filled up, it's literally grab food, eat get out experience. The poolbars ( which serve "food) till 6. I cant find a word bad enough, inedible, no menu no idea what's on offer spend a while navigating to find lukewarm toasties.. a burger made of god knows what, plastic putty type hot dogs and ready salted crisps.. the worst all inclusive we've ever been to, if you want something to eat before the scrum in the restaurant at 7.30pm. It's food from 8 days ago thrown in a microwave!!) At a push breakfast is the best. But really limited and queues everywhere. The bars do a "late breakfast" if you don't mange the long hike before 10am but that's literally to throw a left over croissant at you. The drinks machines are all covered in wasps, if you want a coke at the pool bar it's like a challenge off i'm a celeb to stick your hand into 100 wasps. The accomodation itself is the absolute worst I have ever stayed in and I went on 18 to 30 holidays ( so I'm not exactly raising the bar high here) there is no aircon, which is a basic necessity in 30 degree heat. Some have put " powerfull fans" yes I guess so but they were clearly installed in 1970, partially held on by the electrical wires and generally spreading the hot air around in a swirl to ensure you melt at all angles. We've not slept for 3 days now, coolest place is in the tiniest bedroom in the world and all 3 of us crammed in there like makeshift Fort! The accomodation is not just dated it could be used as an interior film set for a 1960s holiday. Ashtrays still provided inside.. which probably explains the smell and yellowing walls. The exterior to the bungalows is quite pretty, and dosnt represent he sheer hell and discomfort on the inside. Now one of our faults of booking is we have a child with mobility issues, I own this one should have done more research myself and totally our fault, but we did send an email before coming asking if we could be nearer to facilities by this we meant food and I should have been possibly more clearer but they put us at the furthest possible point away from the restaurant. When I asked this they said there is food at the pool bar. ( at this point I didn't realise it was the plastic hotdogs and burgers made from god knows what) so we are doing te walk which is a struggle even for the fittest In this heat, and by the time you've done the restaurant and back abit too knackered to then go to the theatre for entertainment .. this is a tent with rows ( not tables) of plastic partially broken chairs. Again it's from the 60's and you can't sit and have a chilled out drink with family watchi

This review is for English people and a family of 4, but may apply to others: Good: -Entertainment team are on point and work effortlessly -Pools are all clean -Most staff are super friendly -Food for the most part is nice -Right next to the beach -99% of the time you can get sun loungers most of the day Bad: -Rooms are so dated, they let down an other wise modern looking hotel, just spend some money updating them, they are truly horrible -Dinner - it's an absolute free for all from 7.30pm, people barge you out the way, the good stuff goes quickly, then you have to wait for it to be replanished, thw whole thing is a nightmare and not relaxing whatsoever -The size of the place, too big, taking on too many people, and the dinner area is tiny in comparison -No air conditioning, we didn't realise.it woyod be this bad, but we've had the worst sleep imaginable all week as it is so damn hot, the ceiling fans do absolutely nothing to help -The amount of rude Italian and Spanish guests is unreal, they have no thought for anyone else bar themselves, no manners at all -the pool bar is terrible, they won't serve.you soft drinks, telling you to use the machines, problem is, the machines had around 50 wasps flying around them at any one time, so our little kids wouldn't go near them, avoid the pool at the pool bar, and splash pool if you enat drinks for kids -on site shop is mega expensive, I mean seriously, 6 bottles of water for 8 euro 👀 Final thoughts, was a nice holiday, but we definitely wouldn't come back, too many bad outweigh the good points

Pros: absolutely beautiful resort, stunning beach, 2 pools and kids pool with slide. Always managed to get sun loungers. Excellent food. Polite staff, rooms cleaned daily. Cons (minor) no aircon but fans work great, walk up from main pool etc... steep but takes minutes if able bodied. Not much to do locally but we didn't care as the place was so lovely. We will be back this place is a gem don't let bad reviews put you off! Great price for what's on offer would highly recommend.
