Excellent location, about 15 minutes walk to town centre.
Rooms are clean. We had a balcony opening to the outer side.
Few amenities were lacking. Room had kettle (which we needed) but nothing to make tea, not even cups. We had to buy sugar and milk and borrow glasses from the reception to make tea.
Similarly bathroom didn't have a hair dryer.
However all in all it was good and if I had to go again to Interlaken, I can definitely stay here.
Oh yes there is an ice rink right next to the hotel

We stayed in a hotel room with a breathtaking mountain view.
Beds are small but comfy, though I would recommend bringing a pillow or doubling up on the ones provided as they squish very easily.
The lobby is really cozy too, with a pool table and other games along with a bar. 24/7 reception desk, and everyone is lovely.
Shout out to Kiya, the ADORABLE st bernard who hangs out in the lobby and will walk up to you for pets.
About a 20 minute walk to the train station, but I think there's a bus nearby.
The only caveat is you can hear other peoples' doors closing, and for some reason it rattles the balcony door sometimes so in the mornings i did not get good sleep as it kept waking me up. Bring earplugs if that bothers you.
Would definitely stay here again.

Suitably located. Petra was really helpful and she accepted our request for an early check-in on a very short notice. Really satisfied with the amenities as well

Best hotel I have stayed so far.
Very clean, tidy , free water is available at reception.
have lot of space to hangout at common lounge and you can eat your own food at there common area restaurant as well.
Staff is very helpful.

I am writing this as we stay our second night. This is one of my favorite hotels I've stayed in. Yes it's a little outded but it gives it charm. I knew I was going to like it as soon as we pulled in. Possibly one of the biggest parking lots in town. The rooms are HUGE and the beds are fairly comfortable. The views from your giant windows that lead out to a HUGE balcony are the most beautiful I've ever seen. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Although we pretty much kept to ourselves the lobby/bar area was cozy and laid back with a pool table. Lots of chatter as we walked through but not loud. Super quite place in a great location. You really cant beat it especially for the price. AMAZING!!

We stayed in the Mattenhof Resort during our trip in Switzerland. We missed our last bus and hence had to stay in Interlaken. Luckily we got a booking at a very low price in this resort and the stay was pleasant. The hotel is pet friendly and Nice location :)

This hotel is haunted . This was said by hotel receptionist himself who was on duty in the afternoon of 26th Aug. We stayed here for two days in room 226 which had a connecting door to the next room which was locked . On our second night we were back from Jangfrau trip and very tired went to sleep at 11.30pm at quarter to one we were awakened by loud bangings and noises as if someone was very violently trying to open the connecting door. We shouted who is it then it stopped. After an hour it started again. We were rudely awakened by same noises after 45 minutes. It kept happening till at 4 am when I again literally jumped in my bed by the loud noises due to fear and shock and exhaustion and sleep we went downstairs to complain at the front desk. The person on duty came upstairs with us and knocked on that room, the person who came out said he had come back 5 minutes ago, the receptionist agreed with him. I asked who had been creating the whole ruckus then , a ghost. Let me tell you here that all hotel corridors kept alighted the whole night except the corridors in front of our rooms. When complained they asked us to do it manually via a switch placed at the far end of the corridor and even then it kept going off every few minutes as if by magic. When we complained again in morning while checking out at 11 as per their policy, none of us had slept though the ruckus had stopped after our complaint, the receptionist tried to laugh off saying must have been a ghost. No regret no apologies. When you go to this hotel remember you are getting a room at a very beautiful location, do not expect any kind of help or assistance or information. We did not get any when asked about restaurant, our trip to Jangfrau or buses. She gave us guest card very grudgingly when we demanded. At night at 3 am my husband fainted and fell down in bathroom and twisted his ankle. There is no doctor or pharmacy nearby. The nearest available would take hours and hours to attend us so we left the city. No wheelchair was available, no one helped us with baggage their lift is very small. So come at your own risk they don't give a damn. Would not recommend this hotel.

We try to visit the friendly Mattenhof Resort and staff every time we visit Europe from Canada. I've just seen some negative comments about rude staff. I am a fan of everyone I've gotten to know here. I must admit the occasional staff may be rough around the edges but they did not taint our experience. The fact is that we always get great advice, real people to talk to whom end up helping out in numerous ways.
The outdated look definitely adds to the charm which we are happy to pay for! Fun events with great speakers are common so just make sure to ask to sleep in a room far from noise if you want your beauty sleep. We had our two kids under two, sleep surprisingly well through an awesome concert. The music died down early enough. Let's not forget that Interlaken is a magical town. Mattenhof is a magical place. Expect the unexpected!

One of if not the worst hotel experience I have ever had, the bathroom had so much mold in it that I became physically ill. Upon complaining to the front desk, they simply acknowledged it and then walked away, with no change occurring. It got to the point where I continued to get more and more sick that I was forced to get another hotel just so I could continue my trip. The beds are hard and the pillows are practically non-existent. Staff was dismissive and rude as if they were the guests and we were the staff. The location is sup-par too, with a minimum of a 10 min walk to just the city centre. Overall, avoid this place at all cost, for both your sanity and health.
