DoubleTree by Hilton Dar es Salaam Oysterbay

Great hotel & spa, on the bay. Nice large pool & nice pool bar. Good restaurant on the balcony. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

The view is beautiful, their staffs are also very warm & nice but they aren’t really fast for a 4 stars hotel. You have to wait so long for your meal. Their food is very basic and dry, didn’t enjoy my meal at all. It wasn’t an “over the moon”experience.

Stayed here for 5 nights and my experience was over all ok.
Pros: bed is comfortable, if you go down to the bar close to the ocean the view is quite nice,the gym though small has the essentials for a reasonable workout whether strength or cardio.
The pool looked nice and clean even though I didn't swim. The room was spacious and clean with a large desk.

Cons:when we arrived no one offered to help me with my bags in or to my room even though there were two large bags, the room was next to the AC in the hallway and was constantly cold despite my best efforts to switch off the AC in my room. Make sure you ask for a room that faces the pool or the beach as my view was terrible facing one wing of rooms. I found the toilet had a constant odour of garlic and onions which was quite repulsive. No good sports channels in the room. The room was also quite dark in my opinion. Also, sad to say the food was not great, pork was not well cooked, mushroom sauce was watery, burger broke apart like it was made of bread, the beef fillet I had was not tasty at all and I would really recommend an improvement in the chef as overall the food was deplorable. Check out was a painful process which took close to an hour and they showed soft drinks as alcoholic beverage on my invoice which was for work.
