The room was spotless and spacious with a very comfortable mattress and pillows. The view, the stars and breakfast was top notch.

We stayed at the Roundhouses for one night, and enjoyed both the surroundings and the breakfast very much. It was during the rainy season, which created some issues -- such as managing the muddy hillside getting to the house and mosquitos attacking us while using the toilet (outdoors by the shower). The screens on the doors and windows were very tight and effectively kept out bugs, though we needed to go outside in the rain to open the shutters for air. We were very grateful to Susie for arranging transit with local drivers from Chiang Rai and then to Chiang Mai at very reasonable prices. (Although we should note that one of them was in a truck that didn't really accommodate a 2nd person safely.) Overall it's a lovely property in a gorgeous area, and the owner is very accommodating -- though one should be aware of some challenges during the rainy season.

We only stayed one night but it was a really special experience. Beautiful , quiet location with spectacular views (I felt like I woke up in the middle of a traditional Chinese landscape with mist rising from the craggy karst formations like smoke from a dragon’s mouth), and a very short walk to the most impressive chiang dao cave . Accommodation is rustic but comfortable , with a delicious , ample breakfast. Staff were all very kind and Susie the host went above and beyond in making us feel comfortable and welcome. Most notably, I managed to misjudge the distance to a not so nearby restaurant and walked about 40 minutes through heavy nighttime rain . When Susie learned what had happened she insisted on getting in the car to pick me up . The next morning circumstances forced us to return to chiang mai one day earlier and without question or hesitation she gave us a full refund for the unused night . It’s rare to find service like this; thanks so much and full marks!

A unique overnight stay
It's a unique experience to sleep in a roundhouse. The beds are wonderful. You shower outside, which is really nice.
The hostess, Suzy, is very informative and offers great tips. Breakfast is well-prepared.
All in all, a simple place to stay, but a very enjoyable experience.

Extremely beautiful! Comfortable bed, stunning view.

Bathroom is outside. It is well-equipped, private, and a fun experience, however, it was very cold at night (January), and the bathroom is shared with mosquitos.

We loved our stay at Chiang Dao Roundhouses! Sue was such a kind and welcoming host and the staff was very friendly as well. We brought our dog and the property was perfect for her. We left her bed there and Sue was so kind to mail it to us at our house in Chiang Mai. The breakfast was great each day, with more than enough food! We went to Sue's restaurant down the road and had the best pad thai we have had in Thailand! It was a short walk to the temple and the caves and the view of the mountain was spectacular. I would highly recommend Sue's place!

The staff who checked us in was delightful but the check in took way too long. She gave us lots of information which was great but it would be nice to have a paper printed to give to guests about the local sites.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Sue is such a nice and kind host! The Round Houses have everything you could ask if you look for an unique accomodation with a perfect mountain view. The area of the houses is really nice, you see a lot of butterflies and flowers. You are really close to the Chiang Dao Cave and local village restaurants are in walkable distance. Continental breakfast is served, you get a nice variety of fruits with it! Overall a strong recommendation if you want to stay outside of Chiang Mai and enjoy nature!!

I was thrilled with this accommodation. The location is very good, the view is unbeatable and Sue (the owner) is like a second mother. The roundhouses are very comfortable, the bed is big and the blanket is nice and warm and cozy. The place is cleaned every day. There is a freshly prepared and sumptuous breakfast every day. Sue is very attentive and helpful and it is very easy to chat with her. She speaks perfect English. I rented a scooter from her (or her brother) on site, which was also in perfect condition. Next time I will stay longer 😁
