Reviews
Despite some challenges, there were many positives that made our stay enjoyable. Our "Jasmin" room was super clean and cozy, as were the common living spaces. We particularly appreciated the comfortable bed and the effective AC for warmer nights. The room could also get completely dark, ensuring a long and restful night's sleep.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly our host, Nathalie. She is incredibly nice and demonstrates great attention to detail. The breakfasts were incredible, with different offerings every morning during our two-week stay. Nathalie was very accommodating, taking note of our preferences and adjusting portions accordingly—a refreshing and thoughtful touch.
The location in La Marsa is fantastic, literally 30 seconds from an incredible beach. The water was clean most of the time, and the beach was generally quiet, only getting busy during weekends, which is a good cue to explore other areas. We also enjoyed the rooftop, which was nice for sunbathing and enjoying the view during the day, and for stargazing at night.
Unfortunately, our stay included some notable inconveniences and unexpected issues. On our last Friday, we had a very disappointing and unexpected experience. Returning from the beach, we found multiple cars parked in front of the house, and it turned out the owner was throwing a party with a dozen people. They were playing loud music all afternoon, completely disrupting our plans for a nap. We had no prior notice of this event, which felt both disrespectful and unprofessional, especially considering the cost of the stay.
Earlier in our visit, on our fourth day, we also unexpectedly encountered construction in the common spaces during one afternoon. We really wished we had been informed in advance about the day and time these necessary repairs were scheduled.
Several aspects of the property's functionality and privacy also need attention. The door handles throughout the house were noisy and hard to open and close; while they might be antique, practicality should outweigh aesthetics. The trash cans could also be replaced with quieter models. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great, and we would have appreciated having a hair dryer available. Additionally, a hose at the entrance to rinse off sand from the beach would be very helpful, or clearer communication if one exists. We also wished for a small fridge in our bedroom for drinks and snacks, and a coffee machine in the common areas would have been a great convenience.
Internet connectivity was an issue; while speeds were respectable for the region, Wi-Fi coverage in the house was really bad. Investing in a mesh network would significantly improve this. We also strongly recommend they either provide a main entrance key or invest in a keypad lock for the front door, as it's not ideal to have to wait in the scorching sun or wake someone up late at night for entry.
A significant disappointment was the non-functional pool. While the sea in La Marsa is wonderful, having the option to bathe in the privacy of the home would have been a fantastic amenity, and it's a shame to have such a beautiful pool area in the garden that isn't maintained for guest use.
Furthermore, guests should be aware of some privacy considerations. The rooms are not fully soundproof. Also, while we had a key for our bedroom, the bathroom and entrance closet were in a separate hallway accessible to other guests. Most critically, the bathroom door could not be locked—we were initially given a key that didn't work, and since we were the only guests for most of our stay, we didn't follow up for a working key. This lack of a functioning lock for the bathroom is a significant privacy concern, highlighted
More BNB style in aa upscale beach side neighborhood. Near decent-to-great restaurants. Summery for high-end locals..not foreign touristy.
Walk or easy taxis to Carthage sites.
I loved this place. It’s a warm, friendly environment with the staff always happy to help. It was great being able to use the main kitchen to make coffee/tea during the day and night. I even made hot milk before I went to bed. It really was a home from home experience. The breakfast was absolutely out of this world. I have never eaten a better one. I definitely would recommend the it for families and friends alike.
