Yildizoglu Hotel in Samsun

Centrally located and about 10 minutes walk from the station. Spacious room with kettle and tea bags. WiFi worked very well. Breakfast (from 07:00) had a good selection of cheeses, olives, salad vegetables, bread, jams etc. Tea but no coffee.

The actual street, a side street was noisy and not particularly pleasant to walk along. Check-in was slow. Putting language difficulties aside, the gentleman on the front desk had problems understanding that it was a booking.com reservation. He said to pay in the morning quite possibly because there would have been another colleague on duty. The checking out was quicker, but their card terminal unusually rejected a card I had used in other hotels in Turkey for a few days previously.

The room had an odour of cigarettes. Seems a common thing in Turkey where there is no law or even policy to make all or some hotel rooms non-smoking. The bed mattress was a little firm. Overall, another hotel that has been decorated or updated for many years. Bathroom whilst everything functioned OK, chrome had come off the taps and cleanliness was not brilliant.

Enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. We had an initial problem with the room in as much as it really smelled badly of cigarettes. We were offered a double room each in recompense which was very good of The Manager, İbrahim. The breakfast had variety and was well presented. Would stay here again if I visit Samsun.
