Great views at sunset and sunrise. Hot tub and bar on the pool deck are excellent. Check in and valet are friendly. Restaurant has great location.

Everything was great. Ocean view was wonderful. Staff was helpful. Check in was easy. 4 stars bc bed was too hard for my liking. But if thats your jam, this hotel is a great choice.

The staff and surroundings were amazing. The staff was friendly and very responsive to any requests I had. As for the surroundings it was beautiful with tall trees surrounding the property giving you the feeling of being in the forest. Great place to stay.

Loved everything about this hotel. Nothing beat waking up and sitting on the balcony, enveloped in the fog. It was the perfect distance for those who love windy drives. Staff was friendly and super helpful.

Clean room, friendly staff; easy check-in… There was a little stain on the sofa in our bedroom and minor ring in the toilet but nothing that is a dealbreaker.

We were in the area for UCSC's family weekend. This was our 2nd stay. Everything was awesome from check in to check out. From the front desk staff to the restaurant staff to housekeeping..everyone was friendly and welcoming. We will make this our Hotel of choice when ever we visit the area. Thank U. Unique. Very clean. 2025 was rough. This place was unique. Simple. Very clean which is a lot easier to do when the decor is minimalist. Electric Fireplace functional and cozy. Heatboard on the wall was new to me. Bath was beautiful. Towels plush pristine. Mgr. helped me get in during the horrendous rain via com. Jazz music in the lounge. We enjoyed our night stay. Room was clean and accommodating. Hotel was secure and quiet. I would defintely stay again.

I don’t often review hotels, but when you can’t stop thinking about how COMFY a bed and pillows were - it’s a sign you must! We enjoyed our stay, it’s very clean and nice, and sooo comfortable!! The only downside is that parking is not free, and it’s not even part of the property. Other than that, it was great! And the lobby coffee machine was amazing!

We chose this hotel because it's a 5 min walk to the Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz. We had tickets to a concert there. It was very convention. The Chinese restaurant right across the street was very good. We had breakfast back behind at the Firefly Coffee House which was very good. The room was perfect for our one night stay. Super great location walked to boardwalk, downtown and beach, smaller quite hotel

I was upset due to false advertising. This place DOES NOT have a bar or a smoking area. And no vending machines and the elevator did not work. I’m disabled and the stairs were just to much. Also the bathtub was small and the curtains were too short.

I’ve stayed at Ocean Gate Inn several times when visiting my son at UCSC, and the staff has always been kind and professional. One thing I really appreciate is how they go above and beyond — I’ve arrived as late as 1 a.m., and they’ve called to make sure I was still coming, which shows great customer service. Sometimes I show up with two cars (mine and my son’s), and the man at the front desk always...

This is my go to hotel when going to Santa Cruz it is a $10 Uber ride from the hotel to the Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk. The hotel is always clean and the staff is extremely friendly. Beds are super comfortable and the rooms are very spacious. Only downfall this trip was the elevator was being maintenance so we had to walk up to the third floor other than that I highly recommend this hotel.

Very basic hotel, good location due to its proximity to the boardwalk. But don’t expect much. The A/C did not work. The beds and bedding were average to below average. But if you just need a place to lay your head for cheap this is probably the pick.

Parking was very limited, but the room was clean, staff was very helpful and the breakfast provided was great!

Super friendly staff and very close to the boardwalk. The walls are very thin though so you can hear your neighbors conversations clearly.

I would definitely go back. We've got there early and it was for anniversary. They acommated us and check us in early with no fees. The pool was closed but they opened it up for us. Love the management

Overall, it's alright. The breakfast is decent, but the prices are a bit high. There aren't many great places to visit nearby, so it's best suited for a road trip.

Our family enjoyed a pleasant one-night stay. John made us feel at home and seemed like a part of our family.

We had a good stay here. The check in was smooth, room was clean and spacious. The amenities, pool and fitness room, was good. The breakfast was decent but not as good as some of the other similar hotels we have stayed before. We felt the cupboard space in the room was bit less.

This hotel has a swimming pool and hot springs, but it was too late when we arrived and they were closed, so we didn't get to soak in the hot springs. We were arranged to rest on the second floor, and there was no elevator. We had to carry our luggage up by ourselves, which was not very convenient.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay! Rooms are a bit small but all renovated and very clean. Staff was very helpful and quick to respond to a small issue we had. And only two blocks away from the boardwalk….highly recommend!

Rooms were excellent and staff as well. They locked our bikes up in storage so that we did not have to lug them upstairs. Rio Vista is a real find in Santa Cruz. Will stay there again. A really great value.

The property was in great condition and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved the access to free beverages during our stay. The location is in perfect proximity to the boardwalk as well as downtown. We were able to walk just about everywhere that we wanted to go.

Rio Vista Suites is a great option if you want to be near Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk at a reasonable price if you book ahead of time

Room was great for family room: house keeping could have been better with coming in and sweeping the floors and fixing the rooms and bringing towels. Maybe I missed something on the agreement. We helped by putting out the trash and towels. The rock shower floor was great too see but to step on during showering sometimes was difficult. and maybe having a clear time of the office hours could help. Other...

Great but the owner is never there and I still have a 100 dollar deposit pending on my cash app for a whole 2 weeks already. Which needed to be refunded to me.

In a great location — right in between the boardwalk and downtown so easy to walk around. For the price this place is awesome. Only complaint is the SMELL. Stayed here twice, the first time it was just the bathroom that had a bad sewage smell, the second time it was the whole room. Had to keep window open and still didn’t help much. Bat Front Inn staff is always courteous, professional and efficient in accommodating client requests within hotel standards. Housekeeping isost gravious. The rooms are exceptionally clean and this Inn is clearly the underrated stay in Santa Cruz proper.

Bay View is a great secret spot to enjoy a quick stay or in my case, an extended stay. It is so centrally located that everything Santa Cruz is within walking distance. The staff are sweethearts both in the office and in common areas. *Clean room, pet friendly.

It was cool but there was little to no water pressure in the shower, but had body wash and shampoo dispensers inside which was nice. Bare necessities, right off the boardwalk. Parking is a little tight, on a hill. If you don’t mind these things, it’s a simple sweet spot

Other than right in front of office, parking spots are on a super steep hill. The parking lot next to property had people partying loud beginning at 10pm. Be aware there is no elevator. Being older adults, we should have requested a first floor room. The card key lock on our door worked fine, but the additional safety lock that clicks over from doorframe to door was broken in our room. It was...

It was difficult to park due to the uneven terrain but there was always a free space. very polite employees, if there are problems they always help to fix them. we will definitely come back

Check in guy was the best and parking was right in front of the room. Had no issues and loved the updated paint job. Cant wait to head back soon.

Good location for easy beach access.

Close to the beach, The Boardwalk, bowling alley, the wharf and other Santa Cruz Attractions. Not far from shopping and downtown... It is an inexpensive motel, and you get what you pay for, but I have definitely stayed in worse, in town. Not bad.
