Chu Long Hotel in Cat Ba Island

It's cheap but dirty. Smelly bedding, towels full of rips and holes. Dust everywhere and a funny smell. Bugs in the rooms and at breakfast in the sugar bowl! We were duped by the very high reviews but I think these must be fake as it really isn't a good place. The location wasn't good either, it's in a very dirty part of the town full of construction. Overall, wouldn't recommend. It could be decent, but it needs a good cleaning. One saving grace is the girl on reception, she was very nice.

Oh, also the bathroom door didn't work. The aircon didn't work. The fridge smelled like something had died in there.

The Most BIZARRE hotel experience of my life.
The room was amazing... this is a 10 floor hotel with approximately 40 rooms of which we were the ONLY occupants for 3 nights... not a soul in this totally empty hotel... NO STAFF at all.... day 2 we had to turn all the lights on and let ourselves out at 9am....what was bizarre was that we only saw the receptionist when we arrived for 10minutes... and on day 3 when she came to tell us she had moved everything out of our room while we were at breakfast.... she said construction workers wanted to access our room... aha... that was the banging, drilling and sawing we heard at 9pm last night...This was planned construction... not urgent repairs. .. every thing was neatly assembled in a twin room.... two men can't share a queen bed maybe.... Considering the relative cost US$20 per night (no breakfast included) and what is available elsewhere this was VERY DISAPPOINTING. ....
