Lucky Star Hotel 266 De Tham in Ho Chi Minh

Nothing about this place I like, terrible from the beginning to the end.

No food is included. There is even no cafe space. ​Complimentary drink is only pet bottled water. Location is great, it faces one of the main streets in the Da Tham area. Da Tham is known as a backpacker place​ - party place. For the first night, I stayed on the 2nd floor (only 2 rooms on the floor) but I didn’t find it noisy.​ No noise from the street. As the other room on the same floor is just opposite of the room I stayed in, it was lucky. I usually get bothered by the noise of door banging. The 2 rooms on the 2nd floor are very far from each other. For the 2nd night, I stayed on the 3rd floor ( 3 rooms ) I booked a room with a view for 2 nights but the hotel looked like they couldn't assign me the same room for 2 nights in a row. ​The view from the room on the 3rd floor is NOT a view at all. The window is very small and what I saw was just a wall as it was on the rear side. The room at the front looks good, though. Anyways, it is really bad management. I had to change the rooms but another staff member I talked to the next morning didn't know about it. How frustrating ! As I had to leave for a morning tour in the early morning on day 2, what was I supposed to do ? Pack my belongings so the cleaning lady can move my suitcase from room 1 to room 2 or not !?!? It was a really annoying stay. Although I packed my belongings when I left for the morning tour, the next room wasn't ready yet when I came back. ​A good thing is both nights, my room is separated from other rooms. Luckily I wasn’t bothered with noises other guests make ​It is one of the small hotels you see in the area. ​ A Proper hotel​ but no character honestly. AC Wi-Fi TV Fridge Hair dryer Kettle​ Mini bar Linen Desk Hot water shower There is a convenience store right next to the hotel. You can find 7-eleven too. Highland coffee is around the corner. If you prefer normal coffee, it is available ​If you need a taxi to get to the airport, they can arrange it but what they do is call Grab. So you can do it yourself. I decided to go to Ho Chi Minh City at the last minute. No wonder why this hotel was still available.

Upon arrival, we were told our rooms were no longer available due to AC issues.

The room was dirty, not even emptied trash bin and hair everywhere. Asked them to clean, 4 hours later, they just emptied the bin and acted like i was the problem. The bathroom is moldy and never gets dry, so the floors have been wet for 3 days. When you leave the water and tea that was described as free, was no longer free. One of the worst hotels i have ever used, and i usually live in hostels. This is barly 1 star hotel

Do not stay there! The room did not look like the pictures. The room was very small and the room was unclean when we arrived. Hair on the bedding's and towels. It was a struggle to get the room cleaned. Had to ask twice and wait for several hours for them to fix it. At checkout we were charged extra for the supposedly free water and some peanuts. Horrible experience!

Booked lucky star hotel and took a grab(taxi) to it we arrived late at night and were greeted outside by a homeless family sitting outside on the stoop. When we went in we were told our reservation could not be fulfilled as they were full. We were told we would be sent over to their sister property a few blocks away at no charge to us. We arrive at their second property on what looked to be a working girl( hoe stroll)street(not a good look while traveling with a child) we checked in and paying for 2 nights so we could get our bearings on where we were and findng other arrangements thereafter. Once we were in the room(super tight and small) we noticed a large roach on the wardrobe door and quickly left the room to inform the desk guy we needed a refund(we weren't even there 5 mins) as we could not stay in a facility with roaches or another bugs for that matter. He offered us to stay in a different room just above the roach room (as if that would change things) we continued to inform him we needed our money back we could not stay 1 because our child is terrified of bugs and would not sleep and 2 if 1 decided to hitch hike home with us it would be costly to rid them from our home and we didn't need that headache or expense! We were NOT given a refund for either day and were now in need of a new hotel in an unfamiliar city. Overall it as bad experience from start to finish and wished we had known what we were dealing with ahead of time. Buyer beware you get what you pay for!!!

The pictures are misleading as the rooms are not that nice and the hotel is kind of dated a bit with no service. The front desk manager as though trying to be nice, but would make you pay every time you had a guest coming to see you and charge a fee for an hour late check out. There was no shower curtain and no shelves to put anything in the shower.
