Muong Thanh Luxury Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh

I recently stayed at Muong Thanh Luxury Sai Gon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and overall, the experience was quite disappointing. Although the property carries the name “Luxury,” the actual quality of the hotel does not align with that description. In fact, based on my stay, I would classify it closer to a basic guesthouse rather than a proper hotel, let alone a luxury one.

The first issue I noticed was inside the room. One of the bedside lamps was broken and could not be turned on. This is a small detail, but it immediately gave me the impression that the room was poorly maintained. When I travel for business, proper lighting is important, so this already affected my comfort. Another problem was the complete lack of charging outlets on the desk. For a hotel that caters to travelers, this is extremely inconvenient. Many guests need to work, use laptops, or charge phones and other devices. The fact that the desk had no accessible power source made working in the room uncomfortable and impractical.

On top of that, there were no disposable slippers provided. This is a basic amenity in almost every hotel, even budget ones. Without slippers, walking around the room did not feel hygienic or comfortable. When a hotel calls itself “Luxury,” guests naturally expect a certain level of attention to detail. Unfortunately, Muong Thanh Luxury Sai Gon did not meet even the basic standards.

The bedding was another major disappointment. The pillows, bed sheets, and quilt all looked and felt very cheap. The fabric was rough, and the quality clearly did not match what you would expect in a four- or five-star hotel. Instead of feeling comfortable or relaxed, I felt like I was staying in a low-budget motel. A hotel room should give a sense of cleanliness and comfort, especially when you are paying a higher price. However, nothing about the bedding felt premium.

If I have to mention one positive point, the hotel is fairly close to Tan Son Nhat International Airport. This makes it convenient for travelers with early flights or short layovers. However, being close to the airport alone is not enough to make the hotel worth recommending. There are many other hotels in Ho Chi Minh City that offer better service, better facilities, and more comfort for a similar price.

Overall, I would not recommend Muong Thanh Luxury Sai Gon Hotel. The name suggests a premium experience, but the reality is far from luxurious. The lack of basic amenities, poor room setup, and low-quality bedding made the stay uncomfortable and unsatisfactory. With so many better hotel options available in the city, I would advise travelers to choose somewhere else.
