Airport Tirana Hotel in Rinas

Departing from Tirana Airport was a smooth and pleasant experience that made the start of my journey stress-free. The airport was modern, clean, and easy to navigate, with clear signage that guided me effortlessly through check-in and security. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the process quick and straightforward.

I also appreciated the cafés and shops available, which made waiting for my flight comfortable and convenient. The overall atmosphere was calm and organized, giving me a positive last impression of Tirana. Leaving from Tirana Airport was not just easy—it was a comfortable and memorable part of my trip.

Stayed for one night for convenience as our flight arrival was 23.00. The room was extremely clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is light, bright and airy. The breakfast was fine, enough choice. Although it is very close to the terminal building and should only be a few minutes to walk to, due to extensive road works going on and a wire fence between the terminal building and the hotel, it was a bit tricky walking to it. Took us about ten minutes and dodging cars. The roads around the airport to walk or drive are manic currently.

Tirana International Airport is officially named Tirana International Airport “Mother Teresa.”The name honors Mother Teresa (Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu)— a globally respected humanitarian and Catholic nun of Albanian heritage. She dedicated her entire life to helping the poorest communities, especially in India, and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her extraordinary humanitarian work.

Because she was born to Albanian parents and is one of the most admired figures connected to Albania, the country chose to name its main airport after her as a symbol of national pride. It reflects Albania’s respect for her legacy and introduces travelers to an important cultural figure from the moment they arrive.

There is also a statue of Mother Teresa at the airport. It serves as a tribute to her values — compassion, kindness, and service to others — and adds a meaningful cultural touch to the airport environment, reminding visitors of her remarkable impact on the world.

Overall, the airport’s name and monument highlight Albania’s deep connection to Mother Teresa and honor one of the most influential humanitarian figures of the 20th century.

quite a good experience. even though it looked chaotic and overcrowded when i first landed, not exactly the best first impression, i still managed to get out quickly, exchange some cash, and hop on the bus to the city.

when i came back in the evening it was way calmer. i grabbed one last burek, which was surprisingly inexpensive for an airport bakery, passed through security (an absolute breeze), and settled in to wait for my flight… which of course ended up being delayed for a few hours.

waiting wasn’t bad at all though. the only downside was not being able to refill my water bottle, but there were comfortable chairs and plenty of plugs to charge my several dying devices. the whole place looks modern and easy to navigate. overall, pretty solid airport experience.

Great location before a flight, facilities good.

This airport is quite good and maintained.
The immigration was quick. There were 3 currency exchange desks to which you could give any currency you have in cash and they will provide you Lek.
There were multiple atms to withdraw the local currency and 1 atm for withdrawing Euro.

Lot of food joints were there. Some of them even having traditional desserts of Tirana.

The security check was also smooth.

Depending on the traffic, it takes just around 25-50min to reach the city centre.
There are hourly buses to and from the airport.
Buses to city centre cost around €4 or 400 lek. Taxis cost around €11 or 1000-1200 lek.

Our arrival experience was great, with hand luggage only we were off the plane, through the e gates & out to get our taxi in minutes.
Sadly they weren’t working for our return flight, so it took much longer.
Long queues at security but moved pretty quickly but you need to allow yourself a good amount of time.
Kiss & fly area outside to be met by family, friends or other taxi services.
Plenty of places to eat & drink, including an outdoor area.

This hotel is absolutely ideally located for Tirana airport and rental car pick up/drop of - a short walk from the terminal. The reception staff speak good English and are friendly and helpful. Our room (a quad) was spacious and comfortable. Very nice to have a kettle and mugs provided. We had dinner in the Italian-style restaurant and it was very nice - good pizza, pasta etc.
Out only issue was that our room was SO HOT. The aircon didn't seem to work and opening the windows meant is was noisy. We only stayed one night so didn't have a chance to see if this could be fixed easily.
Overall, this hotel is definitely rather overpriced for what you get, but nevertheless we would stay here again if needed because the location is so good.
