We were looking forward to a real resort style stay.
Staff were amazing and location was superb.
We had a few issues with the shower, and Oaks admitted that it was a renovation defect with water seeping out to the whole bathroom.
As mature guests, we were placed on the second floor with no lifts, which proved a bit taxing on the legs. The bellboys were supportive to help with the baggage.
Not sure how they list 3 restaurants, when it is really one, servicing breakfast 7-9.30, poolside 12-3 and dinner 6-8.30
The pool is a reasonable size but there are far fewer chairs than needed (this was off-peak season), I would hate to see what it is like in the peak season.
Overall, not a bad stay, but certainly lower than expected.

The first thing I want to mention is the breakfast. It wasn’t anything fancy, but I could truly feel the chef’s sincerity in every dish. That morning, the chef had a tattoo on his left arm and a hunched back, and he kept checking the food and cooking with real dedication. I’m genuinely grateful for the delicious breakfast.

The reception staff were also very friendly and explained everything clearly—it was a really pleasant experience.

The swimming pool was spotless and well-maintained, which added to the overall positive impression.

One downside was the cleanliness of the room. The bed cover looked yellowed and old, with visible stains in several spots. The carpet was also quite dirty.

Interestingly, the room I stayed in was connected to the neighboring room by a door. Although it was locked, I could hear everything from the next room.

Also, the room didn’t seem to be soundproof, so I heard a lot of noise throughout my stay.

Very accommodating, and able to help with a last-minute booking. The pool was lovely, and the late-night receptionist was extremely professional. I believe her name was Charlotte, and I would definitely recommend her for a promotion. I would also suggest spending a little more for one of the nicer rooms, I will certainly do so next time

We had a fabulous 5 night stay at The Oaks. Rooms were great, clean and furnishings were modern. Beds were a little soft for my liking but none the less comfortable. The restaurants within the resort were great and had plenty to choose from. Location was convenient - only a 5 minute drive to the main street of Port Douglas. The included buffet breakfast each morning was a great addition. The pool is also fantastic. Great for kids as it is not too deep. Overall, a great vibe and would highly recommend for families.

Our stay at The Oaks Hotel Port Douglas was absolutely incredible from start to finish! The resort was beautiful, clean, and relaxing — the perfect tropical escape. Everything from the check-in to the poolside vibes was seamless and stress-free. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, and every single staff member greeted us with a smile. It truly felt like home away from home, just with palm trees and sunshine! 🌴☀️

Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful — truly the best experience we’ve had. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect.

A special thank you to the amazing team, especially Charlotte, Adam, the lovely Maltese girl, and the Spanish girl — you all made our trip unforgettable! 💙

We enjoyed our 2 night stays. They have new renovated rooms which is great. They have little space for sports activities like table tennis, billiard, darts and piano that can play. The receptionist who was on duty was so great and polite.

The Oaks Resort is a fantastic place to stay. It is ideal for couples and families. The rooms are super clean and spacious. Beds are comfortable and shower is great (hot water and pressure).
The pool is a great place to relax, read, tan, eat and swim. Swim up bar offers a great variety of drinks and food. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Bar and restaurant is also a winner.
Rest rooms are super tidy and clean for guests.
Reception is always there to assist with whatever you need. Shuttle bus into town is regular or there are scooters and bikes if you prefer. We absolutely love this place and never stay anywhere else when in PD. Thanks Oaks for yet another comfortable and accommodating stay. Can’t wait to see you all again.

The hotel price is slightly high, the facilities are very old, the room is small, the room is not cleaned during check-in, and there is no disposable toothpaste and toothbrush, which is not very convenient

The room is relatively clean and has a small balcony. It is very convenient to drive to Port Douglas in 5 minutes. Parking is free. As a local Australian hotel, the deposit is only $1, which is really good.

Waste of time and money. The worst buffet ever. Very disappointing.

Probably the worst buffet I’ve had and definitely not worth the value. The seafood was minimal the hot food was gone by 645pm and stone cold. The cooked hot veggies were undercooked and inedible. There was no fish left for the whole hour we were sitting there. My partner ordered a medium steak with red wine sauce and it was rare, full of grissle and had no sauce and took ages to come out when there was only 4 tables in the place, most had already eaten. The only good thing was the mini desserts which is why I gave it a star. Otherwise it was just a total waste of money.
