Cheap and cheerful. Does the job, good location and clean room with private bathroom. No complaints for the price.

The person who eventually approached to book me in was probably tired from serving but found the attitude and demeanor unfriendly and unhelpful.

A nice and comfortable room. It came with an attached ensuite which I didn’t realise when I booked it, so that was a very nice surprise. A little bit noisy at night, but not outside of expectations. Overall was a lovely place to stay and the walk from there to the main part of Launceston was very easy.

The room was comfortable, large bathroom. Dining was full of choices in or outside/undercover, great menu. Staff were friendly professional and all wonderfully dressed in black. Love it and will be back.

Staff were friendly and helpful and instructions were clear. The food was good in the bar and the Bistro also looked nice.
I would like to have given a better rating; however, the single room and bathroom were very run down. Some of the blind slats were broken off which was a privacy issue and let the light straight in, in the morning, when I had a late flight. I stayed 1 night but would not have wanted to stay longer. It is priced accordingly though.

Room was fine for the night. Didn't really like the bathroom being down the hall but for a night it was ok.

I was very surprised it was a very clean managed and friendly place and awesome price , I definitely recommend these guys to everyone hopefully staying back thier again soon :-)

The room is not so clean, it has a smell from the floor. Also, the toilet is not inside the room. Even is a private toilet but also need to walk out for it.

I am visiting from Melbourne and was excited to venture out in Launceston for breaky this morning. Our visit to Elaia seemed good at first. The staff were polite and attentive yet we were not offered water. The tables were super dodgy and wobbly. Our coffees took awhile to come out and delivered at different times and mine was quite bitter. But when my avocado breaky came out it was tiny kids meal size with probably half an avo which I felt may be justified for $13 It was the measliest amount of fetta maybe 1/2 a teaspoon that id requested and an egg that came from a mutant chicken. You guys should be absolutely ashamed yourself for charging me $23 for a joke of a meal. Please do not waste your time and money in this establishment as you will be greatly disappointed like me. I love eating out and flaw very few businesses. I even copped a very sarcastic goodbye and thankyou. Thanks guys you suck!

I had the 'grilled chicken salad', it was bland and not enough on plate. Way overpriced at $29.50 per serve. Staff were attentive and friendly but won't be going back!

Home made food. Great light lunch.

We had high tea for my best friends hens day yesterday,the room and facilities were perfect,the food was beautiful and great value aswell.All of the staff were fantastic and very welcoming and helpful.Thankyou,the bride to be had a wonderful time as did all of the other guests.We will highly recommend you to everyone.

Head chef, Matt Begbie and his team excelled themselves during our maiden dining experience at Esca in the Mantra Charles Hotel, Launceston. Matt is new and certainly has stamped his reputation on this restaurant. The meals were cooked to perfection and presented well. I had the eye fillet and my wife had the salmon. Both of us were very happy with the size of our meals and the flavours. The waiter who served us was extremely efficient and polite but also was able to converse and offer suggestions when asked. We followed his suggestions for dessert and were not disappointed. The whole night was extremely pleasant with plenty of space and pleasant background music. The beer and wine prices were also very affordable, unlike some others. The chef informed us that the menu was just about to be updated and we will definitely be back to partake in more culinary delights. Well done Esca.

The morning after my wedding, my wife and I dined here for breakfast with a lot of our guests, who were staying at the hotel. We booked for 20, and other guests were trying to book too but the restaurant kept telling them they were a part of the 20, even though they didn't know this.
So about 40 people showed up, and the restaurant were SO under prepared and would have been even if there were only 20 people.
The food was awful, especially the sausages, and a lot of guests left with complaints which is NOT what you want just after your wedding.
I won't be back, and won't be recommending to anyone, even for lunch or dinner.
